The Position:
Our Club is currently looking for a seasonal full-time Yard Hand to join our team. The position of the Yard Hand plays a crucial support role in the golf course maintenance team, working under the supervision of the Equipment Manager. Responsibilities include cleaning, organizing, and maintaining tools, fueling and washing golf course machinery, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment in the maintenance yard. This position is hands-on, requiring strong attention to detail, basic mechanical skills, and the ability to work in outdoor conditions. This full-time position requires 40 hours per week, starting at 5:00 a.m. and including at least one weekend day.

Founded in 1911 when Vancouver was just 25 years old, Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club traces its history back to the earliest days of golf on the West Coast. First located on Canadian Pacific Railway lands, the Club moved in 1960 to the ancestral site of the Musqueam Nation's winter village. Shaughnessy has served as the proud host of many prestigious events and notable figures in golf and tennis over these 100+ years. Duties & Responsibilities:
Equipment & Yard Support:
• Clean, fuel, and park maintenance equipment daily.
• Perform pressure washing of equipment and maintain the wash bay area.
• Keep the maintenance yard and workspaces clean, organized, and hazard-free.
Shop Organization & Inventory:
• Maintain a clean and efficient mechanic shop.
• Restock and organize parts and supplies, ensuring inventory accuracy.
• Assist with ordering and tracking necessary materials.
Operational Support:
• Prepare equipment for daily use by inspecting, fueling, and ensuring readiness.
• Assist in maintaining equipment maintenance records.
• Support the Equipment Manager with special projects and tasks.
Equipment Maintenance Support:
• Assist with routine maintenance and minor repairs on golf carts, mowers, and other equipment.
• Clean and organize tools for easy access and efficiency.
• Support mechanics in diagnosing and addressing mechanical issues.
Safety and Compliance:
• Follow all safety protocols to ensure a secure and compliant work environment.
• Ensure the yard, shop, and workspaces remain hazard-free.
• Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials and waste.
The Yard Hand may be required to perform duties that are outside the above listed scope of work as assigned by any member of the management team.
Qualifications:
• Familiarity with golf course equipment and basic mechanical skills are assets.
• Reliable and punctual, with the ability to start work as early as 5:00 AM.
• Must have reliable transportation to accommodate early start times.
• Strong work ethic.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work outdoors.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, at least one weekend day, and holidays.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Compensation and Benefits:
• Full-time, seasonal position; competitive hourly wage range of $22-25; based on experience.
