Position Overview:


Prepare changes/revisions to existing technical publications and/or create new publications in accordance with prescribed specifications in either electronic or hard copy format.

What You Will Do:


  • Authoring Technical data in various formats SGML, XML, MS Word, PDF for Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM)
  • Ensure that the technical data reflects the latest system/equipment configuration.
  • Prepare clear and concise draft material and when required, provide instructions for supporting illustrations.
  • Complete workflow control documentation for draft material.
  • Compile the draft text and illustrations for presentation to the customer, ensuring the product is technically accurate, logically presented, consistent with the appropriate specifications and all customer requirements have been addressed.
  • Assist other technical writers in preparing their work packages for draft manuscript presentations.
  • Assist in Pre-Validation Inspections on work packages prepared by other writers.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Technical Supervisor.


What You Will Bring:


  • High school graduate with post-secondary technical training or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a technical writing or similar environment.
  • Maintenance of Aircraft mechanical, electrical or electronic systems or equivalent experience would be considered an asset.
  • Familiar with S1000D, ATA, CALs, and MIL/STD specifications would be considered an asset.
  • Authorizing technical data in Arbortext Epic Editor, MS Word, PDF.
  • knowledgeable in the use of a variety of hardware and software programs.
  • Experience working with Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) and Extensible Markup Language (XML) would be considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals would be considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Forces Technical Orders (CFTOs) would be considered an asset.
  • Good oral and demonstrated written communication skills.
  • Self-starter, dedicated to a high degree of accuracy, pride in workmanship, co-operative, able to work under pressure, thorough and meticulous, strong interpersonal skills and a flair for quality.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies. Continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 5S activities in your area.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC- Contract Security Program, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.
