Our

Woodlands Students

play an important role in renewing our forests and keeping our communities and business alive! They support the Prairie Woodlands team with

operational field work, developmental and reforestation activities

. If you're a

current forestry student or recent graduate

looking to gain valuable experience, read on to learn more!



We're looking for

Woodlands Students

to work in various

locations across Alberta and Saskatchewan

for summer 2026 with terms running from

May to August (4-month term)

or May to December

(8-month term)

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications


Class 5 driver's license prior to start date.

Current student or recent graduate of a forestry program

or related field of study. Able to work in

varying weather conditions and in remote areas

. Commitment to working safely. Capable of meeting physical demands of fieldwork.

Available starting in May 2026

until mid/late August or December

.

Prior forestry experience is considered an asset

, but not a requirement.

In this role you will:


Be responsible for supporting field work including

boundary layout, road and culvert inspections, tree plant quality assessments

and a variety of other field-based forestry work

under the supervision of forestry professionals

. These tasks may vary depending on location. Maintain safety program documents, AGSafe COR program documents.

Slave Lake



Our Athabasca Division is located two and a half hours northwest of Edmonton, Alberta close to the town of Slave Lake. Slave Lake is home to over 6,000 people. It's an active community boasting two ball facilities, a multi-recreation centre, aquatic centre, and over 40 acres of parks and open space to explore.

High Level



Located in the beautiful northwestern region of Alberta, High Level is home to over 4,000 people. Surrounded by unspoiled nature, the town has endless outdoor activities to explore, along with an in-town swimming pool, hockey arena, yoga studio, golf course and many more amenities.

High Prairie



Located four hours northwest of Edmonton, the Town of High Prairie is a thriving community with 26,957 hectares of park and protected natural assets. There are endless outdoor activities for both land and lake lovers alike and facilities include an arena, curling rink, indoor swimming pool, tennis courts and baseball diamonds.

Meadow Lake



Meadow Lake is located just a short distance from the beautiful Meadow Lake Provincial Park in Saskatchewan. Here, you can experience the spectacular brilliance of our prairie sunsets or look on in awe as the northern lights dance across the sky. Since Meadow Lake serves as the main business centre for Northwest Saskatchewan, you can enjoy small town living with a population of approximately 5300, while taking advantage of amenities usually reserved for larger cities.
