to join our winter operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating our Salt Trucks and distributing salt on our commercial properties.
Please do NOT apply if you do not have experience working with a Salt Truck in the winter. This is NOT a junior role.
The ideal candidate will have a strong safety mindset and the ability to work on-call flexible hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on weather conditions.
This role can lead into a full-time role for winter and also full-time summer landscaping maintenance with benefits and year-round employment. We also offer solid training, leadership classes and career development courses so that you can flourish within our organization
Key Responsibilities:
Operate a salt truck safely and efficiently in accordance with company and provincial safety standards.
Apply salt and/or de-icing materials to designated routes as directed by the Winter Operations Supervisor.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and equipment, reporting any mechanical or safety issues.
Load salt and de-icing materials using appropriate equipment (e.g., loader or skid steer, if trained and authorized).
Monitor weather and road conditions during shifts and adjust operations as required.
Maintain accurate records of materials used, route completion, and hours worked.
Communicate effectively with dispatch and supervisors via radio or mobile device during operations.
Follow all company policies and procedures, including environmental and safety regulations.
Assist with snow removal operations when required (e.g., plowing, shoveling, or site cleanup).
Required Qualifications
Availability for on-call shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays during winter storms.
Strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability.
Previous experience operating salt trucks
Valid G driver's license and reliable personal vehicle to drive to work sites.
Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs, bending, shovelling, and working outdoors for extended periods of time in cold, snowy, and icy conditions.
Reliable, punctual, and flexible for on-call winter work.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Personal mobile device with a data plan (500MB monthly) for communication and using our work apps.
