Overview:
While smaller wineries can't always hire full-time positions, by working collaboratively with Coferment Management, full-time positions can be created that may include working for more than one winery. The ideal candidate will have a sales focus with a positive, can-do attitude. This role will see you in tasting and retail spaces on a day to day basis in conjunction with administrative work including but not limited to sales support and order fulfillment. This busy and varied position entails work on most weekends and holidays as part of a flexible team of hospitality professionals. We have both part-time and full-time positions available. Interviews will take place the last week of February/first week of March, with hiring before mid-March. Positions to begin in April.
The following skills would be beneficial and permit you to succeed in this position:
- Ability to lead curated Tasting Experiences, providing exceptional customer service and one-on-one attention to all guests. You would share the winery story along with the in-depth philosophy behind the wines and vineyards.
- Ensuring all guests to the winery are greeted in a timely manner. Effectively and efficiently triaging guests to provide the best possible experience for all visitors to the property(ies).
- Promoting all new wine releases, upcoming events, and Wine Club Membership
- Executing seasonal food & wine programs on the patio and outdoor areas.
- Operating the point-of-sale (POS) system to process transactions accurately and efficiently
- Support of direct to consumer (DTC), licensee / on-premise, and distribution channel sales, including fulfillment of orders, processing, packing and shipping.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the wine shop, office, patio and all public areas.
- Assisting with setting up and breaking down tasting areas for daily operations.
- Assisting in stocking inventory and replenishing supplies as needed.
- Other duties as required to support our small but specialized winery team.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a hospitality or customer service role preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers in a friendly manner
- Serving It Right certification is required
- FoodSafe certification is desirable
- Wine Education is a plus (WSET, BC Wine Ambassador, CMS, etc.)
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly
- Basic math skills for calculating totals, discounts, and change
- Must be able to repeatedly lift 40lbs
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work weekends and holidays as required
Expected Pay Range: $18.00 to $23.00 per hour, dependent upon experience.
