Job Duties
The Wellness Instructor will function as a team member to develop, guide and implement new and existing Recreation and Wellness program activities in conjunction with the program objectives and in cooperation with the Recreation/Wellness staff.
1. Assist in organization, planning, testing and evaluation of the Fitness and Wellness Program for the Paramedic students.
2. Assist in instructing the fitness component of the Paramedic Program including power circuit, weight training, interval
training and sports training.
3. Conduct personal fitness appraisals/workshops/fitness plans and orientations for staff, students, and clients.
4. Develop and instruct Recreation classes and Wellness seminars for programs.
5. Coordinate and support programs (i.e. intramurals, special events, tournaments, clubs and aerobics).
6. Produce resource materials to support programs (i.e. recreation newsletter, handouts, pamphlets, fact sheets and
resource file, face book).
7. Ensure appropriate facilities and equipment are maintained.
8. Develop and instruct recreation events & wellness seminars for programs
9. Develop community partnerships to help create a quality of health in our community environment
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
1. Degree in Kinesiology or related field, with a certification for Personal Training (CSEP-CPT, NSCA, NASM, or other recognized certificate).
2. Minimum two years' recent experience leading fitness classes and working with adults in areas related specifically to fitness training, healthy lifestyle and recreation.
3. Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
4. Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, e-mail, MS Office Suite software and ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.
5. Demonstrated ability to effectively build rapport and manage personnel, peers, and clients.
6. Ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment.
7. Self-directed and ability to work with minimal supervision.
8. Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
9. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
10. Demonstrates valuing diversity.
