Bodega Henriette is a small, tight knit, neighbourhood restaurant, serving from-scratch breakfast and lunch and house baked goods 7 days a week. We insist on providing easy-going, but knowledgeable and attentive service in tandem with consistently excellent food and drinks; constantly striving to improve ourselves.
We are looking for a baker on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Experience in a commercial kitchen is not necessary. We will train the right candidate.
Saturday & Sunday mornings starting no later than 6:00am. Saturday AND Sunday availability is required.
The flexibility to cover other days for illness or holidays would be wonderful.
We are a very small team where each individual is expected to work collaboratively with the rest of our team to get things done. The right candidate is someone who is kind, self-motivated, takes great pride in their work, can time manage effectively and is focused and organized.
Requirements:
Experience with baking and preparation methods. (able to follow a recipe and understand techniques such as beating/whisking/folding/mixing/rolling, able to discern when baked goods are done baking, experience making muffins, scones, cookies)
Experience with proofing and laminated dough is an asset
Proficient in a kitchen and comfortable using a stove, oven, stand mixer, and food processor
Food safety certification will be required upon hiring
Self-driven, motivated, attention to detail, critical thinker, does not require supervising to fulfill daily tasks
Efficient with excellent time management skills
Kind, empathetic, reliable, strong decision making skills, communication and conflict resolution skills
Duties
Proofing of pastry doughs
Baking of pastries, cookies, muffins
Decoration of pastries
Making and baking products such as scones, muffins, cookie doughs, doughnuts
Rolling and prep of pastries for future baking
Attention to quality, timeliness, presentation and portioning
Ensuring that food safety standards and practices are maintained at all times
Ensuring that the kitchen is clean and compliant with health department standards
Cover shifts for illness/emergencies/vacations

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour depending on level of experience
