Are you a passionate and creative baker with a knack for crafting treats that perfectly complement a great cup of coffee? We're looking for a dedicated
baker
to join our family run and high volume downtown cafe. This role is perfect for a self-starter who excels at working independently, thrives under pressure, and is excited to innovate with a unique menu.
Key Responsibilities
Baking and Production:
Produce a high volume of baked goods daily, including pastries, muffins, scones, cookies, and other cafe staples, following established recipes and quality standards.
Menu Innovation:
Develop and test
unique, coffee-friendly recipes
and seasonal specials that elevate our offerings and drive customer interest.
Independent Operation:
Manage all aspects of the baking shift, including preparation, baking, quality control, and initial presentation/stocking, often working alone.
Kitchen Management:
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen and prep area, adhering to all Food Safe standards. Help to manage inventory of baking ingredients and request orders as needed.
Weekend Availability:
Consistently work weekend shifts (Saturdays and Sundays) to keep the food display stocked and looking great while our full time baker is on days off.
Qualifications and Requirements
Proven Experience:
Commercial
baking experience is VERY helpful
, preferably in a cafe or high-volume food service environment, but not a deal breaker!
Certification:
Must possess a valid
Food Safe Certificate
(or equivalent local certification).
Work Environment:
Demonstrated ability to
function effectively and efficiently in a busy, high-pressure kitchen
environment.
Skills:
Exceptional time management, organizational skills, and a strong attention to detail. Must be reliable, punctual, and highly self-motivated.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
