WEB CONTENT EDITOR (STUDENT POSITION)
The Faculty of Law's communications team is looking for a part-time Web Content Editor for the 2025-2026 academic year. We seek to hire a tech-savvy student to help us maintain and improve www.mcgill.ca/law, as well as secondary websites associated with the Faculty (research centres, chairs, etc.) Working a few hours a week on your own schedule, you would post news and events on our websites, oversee student-run blogs, and help improve existing content.
JOB PROFILE SUMMARY:
The Web Content Editor will play a key role in keeping the Faculty's websites updated. This position involves editing and publishing website content such as news, events, blog posts, and page content. They will be able to suggest and implement website improvements that align with the Faculty's communication strategies and goals. The ideal candidate will be a strongly organized, detail-oriented, bilingual student with prior website editing experience.
TASKS:

  • Website Maintenance: Regularly update the website to keep information current and relevant
  • Promote Faculty news and events
  • Coordinate seasonal student blogs (international human rights internships, CDO 'Day in the Life' program, Business Law Meter Blog)
  • Editing and Proofreading: Ensure all web content is accurate, well-written, and free of errors
  • Special projects, time-permitting: work with professors and administrative staff on building/improving websites; make and implement suggestions on improving mcgill.ca/law
Qualifications Required:
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Familiarity with web content management systems (previous experience with WordPress, DRUPAL an asset)
  • Familiarity with HTML and CSS
  • Bilingualism (spoken and written)
  • Self-managed, excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • D.E.C. or equivalent
  • Registered full-time student at McGill University
  • Interest in digital media and communications

L'equipe des communications de la Faculte de droit est a la recherche d'une editeurtrice de contenu Web a temps partiel pour l'annee universitaire 2025-2026. Nous souhaitons embaucher une etudiante a l'aise avec les technologies pour nous aider a maintenir et ameliorer le site www.mcgill.ca/law, ainsi que les sites secondaires associes a la Faculte (centres de recherche, chaires, etc.). En travaillant quelques heures par semaine selon votre horaire, vous publierez des nouvelles et des evenements sur nos sites, superviserez des blogues etudiants et contribuerez a l'amelioration du contenu existant.
SOMMAIRE DU POSTE :
L'editeurtrice de contenu Web jouera un role cle dans la mise a jour des sites Web de la Faculte. Ce poste implique la revision et la publication de contenu tel que des nouvelles, des evenements, des articles de blogue et des pages Web. La personne retenue pourra proposer et mettre en oeuvre des ameliorations qui s'alignent avec les strategies et objectifs de communication de la Faculte. Le ou la candidate ideale est une etudiante bilingue, bien organisee, minutieuxse, avec une experience prealable en gestion de contenu Web.
TACHES :
  • Entretien du site Web : Mettre regulierement a jour le site pour assurer la pertinence et l'exactitude de l'information.
  • Promotion : Mettre en valeur les nouvelles et evenements de la Faculte.
  • Coordination de blogues etudiants saisonniers : Stages internationaux en droits humains, programme Juriste d'un jour du CDP, blogue Business Law Meter.
  • Revision et correction : S'assurer que tout le contenu Web est exact, bien redige et sans fautes.
  • Projets speciaux (si le temps le permet) : Collaborer avec des professeures et le personnel administratif pour creer ou ameliorer des sites Web; proposer et mettre en oeuvre des ameliorations au site mcgill.ca/law.
Qualifications requises (competences, aptitudes, formation, langues) :
  • Excellentes competences en redaction, revision et correction.
  • Connaissance des systemes de gestion de contenu Web (experience avec WordPress ou DRUPAL est un atout).
  • Connaissance de base en HTML et CSS.
  • Bilinguisme (francais et anglais, parle et ecrit).
