Purpose

The Wave Planner reports to the department Operations Supervisor assists in prioritizing workflow throughout the Distribution Centre in order to meet business needs. The Wave Planner is responsible for analyzing the order pool in the Warehouse Management System and executing waves to optimize productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Support the operation with Business Intelligence through analytics, looking at multi channel business groups (Ecom, Retail and Wholesale) as well as Unit Processing Type (Discrete, Distrib, Full Case)
  • Work with the GM to gain understanding of KPI\xe2\x80\x99s and processing capacities by processing type and plan daily, weekly, monthly capacities to meet or stay within SLA
  • Works with the GM to ensure that all orders are planned and prioritized in order to meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Works with the Operations Managers and Supervisors to ensure they remain on schedule and that all orders are completed on time for shipping
  • Responsible for keeping the operations teams busy with a constant steady flow of orders and advising the team when the work is/will be limited
  • Coordinates special, last minute order requests with customer service, operations and transportation groups
  • Notifies the Operations team of all requested changes from the customer regarding scheduling, processing and shipping
  • Ensures that all customer orders are waved and processed in order of priority
  • Responsible for following orders through the entire process, ensuring orders are 100% completed and all waves are cleaned from the wave screen as efficiently as possible
  • The wave planner will coordinate orders with customer service, operations and transportation, track the progress of waves, release work to the floor and maintain an open line of communication with the operations management team as well as assist in making and clearly communicating key business decisions
  • Develop, analyze and execute the wave plan to predetermine ship schedules and ensure orders are met for all customers while maintaining a level work load of activity across all shifts
  • Ensure unselected orders are managed so that goals for DC SLA and customer requirements are met
  • Monitor productivity models in relation to unselected orders and advise DC management when any SLA\xe2\x80\x99s are at risk
  • Work closely with the Inventory Department to ensure inventory integrity when replacement product is needed to fill an order. Investigate and Maintain inventory logs on SKU shortages
  • Work closely with the Receiving Department for inventory put-away on SKU\xe2\x80\x99s requiring a location
  • The wave planner needs to have a strong understanding of priorities and manage to expedite them accordingly
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum High School diploma; College diploma preferred
  • Ability to multi task in a fast paced environment, strong organizational skills and a good decision making skills
  • Strong Attention to details
  • Strong time management, communication, listening, writing and processing skills
  • Needs to have a good understanding of DC operations
  • Sound experience with Microsoft applications and warehouse management system, Excel, Data Analytics and Pivot Tables
  • Analytical - Designs work flows
  • Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Works well in group problem solving situations
