Job Description



SureWerx is a national supplier of tool, equipment and safety product lines for the Canadian and US markets. Our range of products include: abrasives, air tools, hand tools, material handling, lifting equipment and safety apparel and products. Our USA headquarters is in Elgin, Illinois, the Canadian location is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada with six branch offices located in the major cities across Canada.

Primary Responsibilities:

Safety:

  • Creating and maintaining a safe and productive work environment:
  • Promoting and ensuring there are appropriate health and safety measures in place and ensuring they are followed by everyone in the warehouse;
  • Overseeing the safety for the warehouse and supportive management safety initiatives;
  • Participate and become a member of the JH&SC for BC;
  • Deliver daily safety talks with other JH&SC key members;


Operational excellence \xe2\x80\x93 Productivity and quality:
  • Direct the daily duties of the warehouse personnel to ensure that all standards of performance are achieved.
  • Use performance metrics and analytics to measure performance and deliver continuous improvement coaching.
  • Cross-train all staff to ensure ability to assign staff to different areas of the warehouse operation.
  • Lead the team in developing a continuous improvement mindset. Recognizing opportunities for improvement and implementing them successfully;
  • Deliver daily operational and quality service talks;


Customer Experience:
  • High functioning written and verbal communication skills to ensure all internal and external customers are fully informed of all achievements and issues.
  • Ensure all customer specific instructions are adhered to.
  • Constant desire for constructive feedback on where improvements can make a positive difference.


General:
  • Provide regular feedback and continuous communication to warehouse staff;
  • Stay up to date on policies, standards, guidelines and company communications to ensure you are able to coach staff, answer questions and change procedures according to all guidelines and policies;
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures;
  • Interview candidates for vacant positions;
  • Deliver orientation and training to all new employees and temporary staff working in the warehouse;
  • Prepare and deliver annual performance appraisals;
  • Attend to customer requests, enquiries and concerns in a professional and prompt manner;
  • Responsible for the inventory accuracy, ensure that stock count is checked and any discrepancies are investigated and corrected;
  • Communicate with other branches on stock balance discrepancies and transfers;
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures for the warehouse to SureWerx standards of security;
  • Responsible for meticulous documentation on warehouse attendance in the Time Force system;
  • Ensuring that all operating equipment is in good working order, safety checks are performed and documented and reporting any deficiencies to the Warehouse Manager immediately.
  • Developing E-com capacity


Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Load, unload and move products by hand or with basic material handling equipment;
  • Operate a variety of equipment to unload and load and move products (sit down counterbalance, reach truck and order picker;
  • Weigh products, wrap goods and pack and unpack products;
  • Process incoming requisitions which includes picking, checking and packing orders;
  • Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices and other documents;
  • Shipment of orders;
  • Restock bins;
  • Maintain a safe and clean warehouse;
  • Other duties and projects assigned as required.


Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years previous supervisory experience with a focus on delivering excellent performance and customer service.
  • Excellent coaching and leadership skills with the ability to create and sustain a positive working environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Past participation and/or leadership in safety programs.
  • Experience with Puro, Loomis, UPS, FedEx, Courier, LTL, and container shipping considered an asset.
  • Experience with WMS systems, RF scan, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Project, CI, and 5S experience is an asset.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Detail oriented.
  • Professional and excellent customer service skills.
  • A self-starter who takes initiative and sets good example for the warehouse staff.
  • A team player who can lead and take direction.
  • Ability to give and follow instructions and policy.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Physically able to lift heavy shipments and products between 25 to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate industrial lift trucks, pallet jack, order picker and forklifts.


As this role requires consistent attendance at a SureWerx office and/or customer setting, the successful candidate must be fully vaccinated (i.e. have received all doses that are recommended by Health Canada, CDC or local European country (where the candidate will be working in), including any boosters and must provide SureWerx with proof of vaccination.
