Position:
We invite you to join a high-impact organization and make a meaningful difference in our community! This is an exciting opportunity for a dependable, hands-on floor leader who enjoys being actively involved in daily warehouse operations and supporting a collaborative team environment. This role offers room to grow and develop leadership skills over time within the Warehouse team.
Reporting to the Director, Warehouse Operations (DWO), the Warehouse Lead Hand plays an important role within the warehouse, helping guide day-to-day activities and keep work moving safely and efficiently. This position focuses on on-the-floor leadership, clear communication, and consistent execution of warehouse processes.
Job Responsibilities and Competencies:
Inventory & Stock Control:
Support the accurate tracking, movement, and storage of high-volume inventory across warehouse locations. Assist with maintaining inventory counts, investigating variances, and ensuring inventory records reflect physical stock.
Inter-Location Shipments:
Coordinate and support the accurate movement of food and materials between locations. Ensure shipments are prepared correctly, documented accurately, and received as expected, addressing discrepancies promptly.
Logistics & Warehouse Flow:
Support the efficient flow of product through receiving, storage, picking, and distribution. Help organize daily workflows to ensure inventory is staged, stored, and moved safely and efficiently.
Data Accuracy:
Use warehouse and inventory management systems to record inventory movements, transfers, and adjustments accurately. Support data integrity by following established processes and flagging system or data issues.
Daily Operational Oversight:
Maintain awareness of inventory levels, space constraints, and upcoming distribution needs. Communicate risks, shortages, or logistical challenges to Warehouse leadership in a timely manner.
Staff & Volunteer Support:
Provide clear, respectful guidance to warehouse staff and volunteers to support daily inventory handling and logistics activities. Help assign tasks, answer questions, and ensure expectations around accuracy, safety, and workflow are understood.
Safety & Quality Compliance:
Follow and reinforce food safety, workplace safety, and industrial health standards related to inventory handling and storage. Help maintain an organized, clean, and compliant warehouse environment.

Qualifications:
Experience in warehouse, logistics, or distribution environments, with hands-on involvement in inventory handling, shipping, and receiving. Lead hand or team lead experience is an asset.
Working knowledge of inventory control, stock counts, and transfers between locations. Experience in food distribution or grocery environments is an asset.
Understanding of occupational health and safety requirements and the ability to follow and reinforce safe work practices.
Comfortable using inventory or warehouse management systems to track stock movement and shipments. Experience with ERP or inventory platforms is an asset.
Strong attention to detail and an organized, reliable approach to work.
