Job Description

:
Our client is looking for a dedicated and experienced financial leader to oversee the operational and strategic financial functions off their organization in Napanee, Ontario. As the Director of Finance, you will manage internal and external reporting, month-end processes, budgeting, payroll, and variance analysis. This role is critical in supporting the senior leadership team with financial insights and ensuring the effective stewardship of organizational resources.
Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including internal and external reporting, revenue recognition, and variance analysis.
  • Lead month-end processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Develop and manage annual departmental budgets and capital budgets, aligning with organizational goals.
  • Provide strategic financial insights to support the senior leadership team in achieving the organization's priorities.
  • Supervise accounting and payroll teams, offering guidance and mentorship to direct reports.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders such as the Ministry of Health to monitor and execute funding agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze financial data, statistical reports, and key performance indicators to inform decision-making.
  • Oversee the preparation of year-end audited financial statements and mandatory financial reporting.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; an accounting designation is required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive financial experience, with at least 5 years in a management role.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in financial software systems and tools, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience in budgeting, payroll management, and variance analysis in healthcare or not-for-profit settings is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Management Information System (MIS) Guidelines and governmental reporting systems is an asset.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with external partners and manage funding agreements effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills to guide teams and foster collaboration.
