The Vice President of Finance and Administration will define and implement key performance indicators and strategic objectives for the division and, as appropriate, the entire organization, as well as facilitate the measurement of those objectives. Exceptional leadership skills and strong strategic financial experience are essential for this position for leading a large, varied portfolio that includes Financial Services, Information Technology, and Member Financial Services. Additionally, this position is responsible for the overall quality of services, risk identification and mitigation, legal and reporting requirements, and resource deployment and planning.

Responsibilities:

Finance and Accounting
  • Ensuring the Finance & Accounting Departments of the company are cohesive and run as efficiently as possible and capable of meeting the future needs of the entire organization
  • Monitoring finances, make projections, analyze trends, develop tools to effectively manage the organization\'s growth, cost structure, balance sheets and suggest wise courses of action that assure financial health of the entire organization
  • Evaluating current accounting practices, systems, and policies to ensure practices and financial reporting are continuously improving and meet current and future requirements
  • Ensuring product cost structures are built and managed in accordance with the industries in which we compete (i.e.: Packaged Goods and Bee Supplies.)
  • Supporting the Controllers in updating financial and accounting policies as required
  • Working with all departments to ensure a cohesive budgeting process is in place
  • Analyzing company\'s financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance with budgets
  • Providing strategic guidance around cash flow and capital financing options to support future company growth needs
  • Seeking opportunities to leverage the entire organization\'s financial equity toward cost effective arrangements with lenders/financial institutions. Assisting Senior Management and Board of Directors in financial planning and results management
  • Providing oversight for the payroll management activities and supporting system for the entire organization Supporting Finance Departments in the development of consistent cost reporting methods along with the tools and reports required to assist all departments in managing the company\'s financial objectives
  • Supporting the team in the development of business plans for new products, services, and markets
  • Maintaining knowledge of developments and trends in finance and administration including technological advances
  • Supporting VP of Business Growth and Bee Supplies managers with pricing and cost allocation strategies
  • Supporting Bee Supplies with the development of an inventory management plan and margin strategy
  • Facilitating implementation of financial systems to continually improve how we manage the financial components of the business
  • Maximizing the functionality of the ERP and supporting financial systems
Information Technology
  • Oversee IT strategic and operational planning to achieve the organizations goals by fostering innovation, setting priorities for IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems and services across the organization
Member Financial Services
  • Overseeing member financial services to ensure integrity while balancing member versus Co-op needs
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor of Arts, Administration, or Commerce degree, or MBA, or a combination of education and experience
  • A professional accounting designation such as CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA is required
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive, senior financial management experience within a dynamic organization
  • Well-versed in financial policy and regulations and have a thorough understanding of all industry standards
  • Background working with producer owned (co-op) business would be considered an asset
  • Must be \'hands-on\' and able to work cross-functionally in a co-located environment
  • Demonstrates sound judgement to translate broad directives and strategies into definable goals, specific plans, and action plans
  • Skilled at using analysis to assess complex situations, anticipate outcomes, provide advice, and focus that lead to positive preferred courses of action
  • Excellent leadership, communication, decision making, problem solving, conflict resolution and planning skills
  • Persistently and proactively pursue desired organizational outcomes, with the ability to cope with ambiguity, set priorities, juggling multiple tasks, and earning the respect of others
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Sage X3 report writing would be an asset
  • Able to identify opportunities around the optimum utilization of the MRP system and other supporting IT systems
