Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the VP, Communications & Public Relations has a passion for communications and storytelling as an integral way to enhance our brands for both internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include ownership and oversight of all corporate communications to 2300+ employees across Canada for all goeasy business units in both English and French. Management and execution of all external communications including PR and media relations management to leverage our earned communication channels to support our brand message to both the public and investor community. You will also be responsible for the management and execution of our Corporate and Social Responsibility initiatives including nurturing our longstanding partnerships with organizations such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, Habitat for Humanity and finding new and innovative ways to grow our impact in our local communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Internal Communications
  • Develop and own the long-term strategy for internal corporate communications including content, distribution and technology.
  • Business ownership of goeasy's corporate intranet platform including content strategy, governance and enhancements roadmap
  • Own and manage the execution of all corporate communications against our editorial calendar to our field employees, support center and call center teams, in both French and English
  • Support the execution of corporate events including our National Manager's conference and our large-scale enterprise-wide incentive programs
  • Ownership and production of corporate wide town halls and events including content management/creation and broadcast production
  • Develop and own the long-term strategy for the 'Office of the CEO' to support the CEO in all internal and external communications efforts (media appearances, executive thought leadership, social media support, internal memos, videos, blogs)
  • External communications
  • Create fully integrated PR campaigns that support our corporate narrative, brand initiatives and new product launches
  • Own our key messages and overarching tone and voice for communications across all external channels including our corporate web and social media channels
  • Nurture and develop relationships with key media outlets to further promote the goeasy story targeted at a variety of stakeholders including the general public, advocacy groups, shareholders and investors
  • Act as the key media contact for customer, brand, product, issues management and community initiatives
  • Draft key communication materials including press releases, media pitches, executive speaking notes, and support in the development of a variety of investor communications collateral including quarterly call scripts and annual reports
  • Oversee regular media monitoring and develop key insights and competitive analysis of the alternative lending space and broader financial services landscape including fintech both locally and internationally
  • Support the development of goeasy's ESG strategy and framework in conjunction with a cross functional team. Own associated communication strategy of our ESG platform across our corporate channels
  • Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Manage CSR initiatives, including storytelling, partner engagement, employee volunteer engagement, event execution, development of communications materials and integration into existing corporate channels and materials.
  • Expand our corporate giving platform with new initiatives and partners that align to our corporate mandate and values of giving back to the communities in which we live and work and both a local and National level
  • Other
  • Develop KPI's and dashboards to monitor, measure and assess the effectiveness of all internal and external communications programs
  • Lead and manage an existing team of 5 high performing communications professionals with the ability to scale resources as the channel grows and evolves. Work collaboratively with key agency partners to help support our efforts
Qualifications:
  • 7-10 years in communications or media role/environment supporting and leading corporate and external communications
  • Undergraduate degree in Communications, English or a related field. MBA is preferred
  • Strong leadership skills with a hands-on approach
  • Experience developing communications strategies and initiatives to create innovative programs for a variety of stakeholders
  • Excellent writing skills and experience writing for a range of audiences
  • Experience with media relations, managing externally facing stakeholders and advocacy groups or government stakeholders within regulated industries
  • Entrepreneurial and disruptive in your ability to problem solve, challenge the status quo and a willingness to take calculated risks in order to support the brand and customer voice
  • Ability to work closely with multiple senior executives including the President and CEO to help manage and move forward their communications agendas
