Job Description

YMCA of Northern Alberta Foundation is recruiting up to three (3) new Directors to serve on the Foundation's Board of Directors commencing in the fall of 2025.



After a competency review, we are seeking individuals with strategic competencies to support the Foundation's goal to grow our endowment through current and future gifts. We are seeking individuals with the following attributes:


Personal commitment to strengthening our communities and enhancing the future financial sustainability of YMCA of Northern Alberta Senior leadership experience to help strengthen relationships and open discussions Previous community volunteer and volunteer board experience is an asset

About YMCA of Northern Alberta Foundation





YMCA of Northern Alberta Foundation is a separate charity from YMCA of Northern Alberta and oversees the management of our growing endowment funds, with current total assets of $7.3 million.



The goal of the Foundation is to support programs and services of the Association and growing the endowment funds by educating and asking individuals to consider making a current or planned gift to the foundation, thereby, over time, growing the size of the foundation. In addition, the Board is responsible to annually grant funds from the foundation towards the goals and objectives of YMCA of Northern Alberta.



Each year a portion of assets of YMCA of Northern Alberta Foundation's endowment are used to fund the following YMCA of Northern Alberta priorities:


Programs and services offered by YMCA of Northern Alberta to help individuals and families in Awarding of grant funding via restricted funds as defined by donors. Nomination, selection and awarding of YMCA annual scholarships for staff. Awarding of grant funding to support the administration costs of the Foundation

YMCA of Northern Alberta Foundation Heritage Club





The Heritage Club recognizes donors who have supported the Foundation's endowment either through current gifts or by planning a gift to the Foundation through their estate. Benefits of membership include:
