About the Sheen for She Foundation The Sheen for She Foundation is a registered women\'s charity, and the first of its kind in Canada. The Sheen for She Foundation defines self-care as the practice of building a woman\'s image with grooming, personal hygiene to develop her self-esteem, confidence, and professionalism. This is a specialized sector of self-care that is neglected in the lives of women who are at risk due to socio-economic factors, including domestic violence, drug addictions, forced marriages, mental/physical health, sex trafficking, and poverty. At the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Team Sheen for She delivered north of 10K Perseverance Aid Kits (PAKs) to at-risk women and youth and partnered with over 80 women\'s organizations and shelters. The outreach project spanned the GTA and local rural communities in Ontario. The Perseverance Aid Project (PAP) successfully reduced rates of violence, anxiety, feelings of powerlessness, and produced evidence-based learnings in support of the Sheen for She Foundaiton\'s self-care cause. The Sheen for She Foundation has been recognized and featured in CBC, Global News, The Toronto Star, Lifestyle Magazine, Omni News, BlogTO, York University, Arizona State University, and more. Role Summary Reporting to the Leaders of the Sheen for She Foundation as determined by each program, the Women and Children\'s Counsellor is the primary worker with children, youth and families, normally roating shifts that provide coverage four (4) hours a day, two (2) days of the week, and is a contributing member of a team providing service to children, youth and families within a structured remote setting. As a Volunteer Counsellor your responsibilities would include:

  • Listening to client concerns and problems, developing a treatment plan and aiding the patient with coping strategies
  • Facilitating groups for clinets and/or their families as required
  • Assessing a client\xe2\x80\x99s mental health through interviews and conversations
  • Using appropriate testing and evaluation methods to assess clients
  • Developing and implementing a treatment plan, which may include counseling sessions, or other types of mental health care
  • Diagnosing a clients\xe2\x80\x99s mental and emotional issues
  • Working closely with clients to develop a favorable treatment plan and goals
  • Adjusting the treatment plan to find ways for method and client improvement
  • Educating the client on coping strategies or stress-management techniques to handle stressful life situations
  • Keeping records of the client\xe2\x80\x99s treatment plan and progress
  • Communicating any pertinent information regarding project timelines, goals, or objectives to team members
  • Training novice team members
  • Performing other related duties as required
Qualifications:
  • Diploma/Undergraduate Degree in the Social Sciences, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Nursing, and minimum one year related experience
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Experience in working with young people preferred
  • Current proof of professional registration may be required for certain diplomas or degrees
