Your Opportunity The duties and responsibilities of a Vocational Instructor include continuing excellence in one\xe2\x80\x99s field, instructional and professional duties, professional development and service.
Functions and Duties
Instructional duties may include any or all of the following: instructional (teaching assignments); course and program preparation and revision; student contact; student advising; evaluation and marking of student work and other functions related to instruction.
Professional duties may include any or all of the following: curriculum development, student registration and pre registration duties.
Professional development is activity intended to promote teaching excellence, subject area competence and technical competence in the area of professional or instructional expertise.
Service may include any or all of the following: school visitations; participation on OC committees; attendance at articulation meetings; representing OC at other function; administrative and other duties.
Education and Experience
A Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree from an English-language university in TESL/TESOL, English Language Education or equivalent is required; a Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in TESL/TESOL, English Language Education, Applied Linguistics or equivalent is preferred.
An understanding related to the specific purpose and content of the course as well as three to five years of post-secondary ESL teaching experience are required.
Experience with mobile and on-line ESL teaching resources is an asset
An Instructor\xe2\x80\x99s Diploma or valid BC Teacher\xe2\x80\x99s Certificate appropriate to the instructional assignment is preferred and will be required following a regular appointment in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

The ideal candidate will have an exceptional teaching record with demonstrated learner-centred teaching philosophy. Candidates will be comfortable in a computerized environment and demonstrate knowledge of programs relevant to their discipline. The successful applicant will be able to encourage communication between students and faculty.

Arts and Foundational Programs is seeking a Non-Regular, Part-time Vocational Instructor to teach English as a Second Language for short term study tour related to:
Canadian Culture
Automotive Industry
Customer Service
Consumer/Retail Sales
Instructors must be capable of demonstrating strong written and oral English skills including the technical subject matter vocabulary for the areas described in the tours above.

Annual Salary/Hourly Rate Salary range $71,846 to $115,129 annually; normal starting salary between $78,872 and $85,897 annually, dependent on relevant education and experience.
