The role will also support International Programs in international networks from time to time (such as CIB, UCLG ASPAC, and CLGF) by liaising with these networks, representing FCM and implementing joint activities.The Advisor leads the creation and implementation of project communication plans for specific international projects. The Advisor is responsible for leading the publication and promotion of project results in close consultation with relevant Project Directors and ManagersThe work at FCM includes FCM becoming an even more member-driven organization that balances the realization of its goals with a people-centered approach. As a member of the team, the advisor works in a manner that embraces these values, the corporate culture and the passion for FCMxe2x80x99s mandate.What youxe2x80x99ll be doingInternational Projects Communicationsxc2xb7 Develops the communications Annual work plan for international projects and oversees the implementation of the work plan in collaboration with relevant FCM staff in relevant offices (Ottawa, Ghana, etc.) and with relevant partners and networks.xc2xb7 Ensures accurate and appropriate recognition and attribution of GAC contributions to International Projects and ensures message alignment with GAC priorities (i.e. the Feminist International Assistance Policy).xc2xb7 Develops, implements and evaluates communications plans to promote project activities (e.g. knowledge resources, study tours, field visits, award programs), providing writing and editing services to align with the programxe2x80x99s target audiences.xc2xb7 Working with team members, produces Communications products and key messages for website and social media content, e-communication, content for newsletters, publications, posters, presentations, bi-monthly bulletin and impact reports.xc2xb7 Responsible for updating FCM International Project webpages, and regularly publishing on all social media platforms identified for each project.xc2xb7 Leads the publication and promotion of project results and high value knowledge products (e.g. case studies) to key audiences i.e. FCM members and the Canadian public; and supports project partners with communications to their key audiences.xc2xb7 Liaises internally with FCM communications colleagues to amplify International Projects content in FCM newsletters, social media, speeches, etc.xc2xb7 Supports the monitoring and evaluation of communications activities, including the analysis of analytics related to social media and website, to ensure continuous improvements in targeting and disseminating project information and resources/knowledge productsxc2xb7 Support the delivery knowledge exchange events including webinars.xc2xb7 Support in writing reports for different projects.xc2xb7 Support team members to engage with relevant networks e.g. Capacity and Institution Building (CIB) Working Group of UCLG, UCLG-Africa, (Rxc3xa9seau des Femmes xc3x89lues Locales dxe2x80x99Afrique xe2x80x93 REFELA), UCLG-Asia Pacific (Standing Committee xe2x80x93 Women in Local Government), Commonwealth Local Government Forum, etc..xc2xb7 Support and promote the work of the CIB Gender Knowledge Hub.Your skills make us betterYou bring:

  • Post-secondary education in Journalism, Communications or Public Relations or a combination of experience and/or education that would be considered equivalent.
  • Six years of professional experience in communications.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in both official languages (English & French).
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills in a global or cross-cultural environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing strategic communications guidance within international development, gender equality and inclusion programs themes.
  • Strong knowledge of best practices and experience in developing various communication products for different audiences (e.g., web and social media content, e-bulletins, presentations, articles, brochures, blogs).
  • Knowledge of usability, search engine optimization, content strategy and marketing best practices.
  • Attention to detail and an eye for quality with the ability to identify key messages and distill complex information into simple, concise and effective communication products.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work effectively under pressure, meet tight deadlines, prioritize and deal with uncertainty in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of municipal, federal government or parliamentary affairs an asset.
  • Knowledge of gender equality and social inclusion.
