Job Description

Together South Surrey White Rock Society is a non-profit organization

consisting of a collective network of volunteers focused on community-informed mental wellness innovation and outreach support.

We are seeking a talented Visual Content Designer

to develop engaging and innovative visual marketing and social media content that aligns with our strategic goals in advancing community mental wellness awareness and innovation.

The Visual Content Designer reports directly to the Program Manager (PM) or to a Board-appointed Lead when the PM is unavailable, and communicates with the Media, event and operations facilitator (MEOF) to receive instructions for each project.

The VCD position is an ongoing, month-to-month independent contractor opportunity, not a permanent employment position.



Responsibilities



Create original graphics and marketing visuals in Canva using the Together-SSWR Brand Kit. Curate content created by Together-SSWR staff, trusted organizations or service providers to correspond with our existing branding Design promotional and awareness materials for Together-SSWR events, community cafes, outreach engagement days, and seasonal campaigns Provide graphic design and content creation requested by the Board, Catalyst Team Leads Develop and maintain reusable design templates, social media visual layouts, presentation slides and branded graphics when needed Produce designs that follow equity, diversion, inclusion and accessibility principles, using the Together brand kit fonts, clear content hierarchy, and graphics optimized for all ages Ensure event promotion materials are created and shared well in advance for community awareness Review feedback from Program Manager, Catalyst and the Board, and update designs efficiently

Required Skills and Experience



1+ year of experience in graphic content production and social media design. Strong proficiency in Canva(required) Experience in creating original digital campaigns, event posters, social media storytelling visuals, and community-first marketing assets Ability to work independently in a remote role while collaborating effectively with a small team in a start-up environment. Strong proficiency in written and verbal communication in English, including grammar accuracy, an audience-friendly tone, and clarity. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills Responsive, adaptable, and able to accommodate last-minute design needs with efficiency and professionalism Comfortable responding to feedback, adapting quickly, and accommodating last-minute design requests

Hybrid (90% Remote)

Pay:

$28/hr

Hours:

5 to 10 per week (May vary from week to week depending on workload, as mutually agreed and approved by the Program Manager)
