Visual Arts Instructor (Part Time, Contract)
Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton
Salary: $19.71/hr - $24.63/hr
Start Date: Mid-August 2023
End Date: March 31, 2024 (with the possibility of extension)
*Visual Arts Instructors must be 18 years of age or older.

What qualifications are we looking for?
We strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following:
\xc2\xb7 Associated Degree(s) or diploma(s) or Degree(s)/Diploma(s) in progress in related field: visual arts, teaching, working with children or adults, seniors and/or adults with disabilities;
\xc2\xb7 Previous experience teaching/working in the field;
\xc2\xb7 Meet and maintain any other specific licensing requirements;
\xc2\xb7 Current Intermediate (Standard) First Aid and CPR C certification (CPR recertified within the last 12 months);
\xc2\xb7 Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search;
\xc2\xb7 Three professional references required.
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
Visual Arts Instructors will:
\xc2\xb7 Prepare lesson plans, teach and educate participants (children & youth, and/or adults & seniors) in visual arts skills, according to the curriculum;
\xc2\xb7 Help develop/offer input to the current curriculum, in alignment with the growth and development of all arts programming initiatives;
\xc2\xb7 Assure the health and safety of participants by following health and safety practices and regulations;
\xc2\xb7 Provide a safe, fun, engaging, creative and supportive environment for participants and volunteers;
\xc2\xb7 Exceptional organizational, multi-tasking, problem solving and decision-making skills;
\xc2\xb7 Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service;
\xc2\xb7 Strong attention to detail and exceptional follow-through;
\xc2\xb7 Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
\xc2\xb7 Be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality;
\xc2\xb7 Maintain a professional attitude at all times;
\xc2\xb7 Ability to meet assigned deadlines;
\xc2\xb7 Effectively communicates in a variety of settings;
\xc2\xb7 Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure best delivery of customer/client experience, consistency in program offerings etc.;
\xc2\xb7 Perform other duties as assigned;
\xc2\xb7 Be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends;
\xc2\xb7 Ensure the space and its equipment are being treated safely, and appropriately.
