CoSA VFX is an award winning, fast-paced and highly collaborative Visual Effects studio with locations in Los Angeles, Vancouver and Atlanta. We are seeking an experienced Virtual Art Department Lead for current and upcoming projects. While this is a remote role, artists in British Columbia and Ontario will be given preference. RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Work within a team to lead, develop and deliver highly detailed, realistic, and optimized 3D assets and Virtual Environments inside the Unreal Engine for use in Virtual Productions for Film, commercials, and Episodic Television
  • Work with Creative/VFX Supervisors to output high-quality assets
  • Interpreting and communicating client feedback and vision to the team
  • Manage a team of artists, keeping them on track, and motivated while supporting them with technical problem solving
  • Provide direction to artists for aesthetic and technical considerations.
  • Lead team art discussions, critiques and reviews
  • Work within a team to lead and develop creative problem solving, efficient techniques and communicate ideas with the team
REQUIREMENTS:
  • 3+ years of professional game production or Virtual Art Department experience in a Senior or Lead Artist role working with Unreal Engine
  • A commitment to teamwork, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Expert knowledge of Unreal Engine
  • Expert knowledge of Zbrush/Maya or equivalent
  • Advanced knowledge of Substance Painter/Quixel Mixer or equivalent
  • Proficiency in the areas of Lighting, Layout, Sequencer Animation, Rendering, and Blueprint creation inside Unreal Engine
  • Expert knowledge and experience optimizing assets and environments for Unreal Engine
  • Understanding of Rigging characters, Props, and Vehicles in Maya and translation of that data into Unreal
  • Working knowledge of Source Control/Perforce
  • Working knowledge of Shotgrid
  • Creative problem solver
PREFERRED:
  • Python scripting knowledge
  • Experience building landscapes in Unreal as well as landscape materials and procedural environment shaders
  • Familiarity with CVar cmds for environment optimization, troubleshooting, and activation of less exposed engine features
  • Experience in VFX pipelines
  • Experience in interacting with VP Stage Volume teams
