Design

  • Leading key milestone meetings including: Fabric meetings, Concept Meetings, Sketch Reviews and Brief Sheet deadline dates, in
  • accordance to the Critical Path, to ensure samples arrive back in time for Sign Off Meetings.
  • Driving the Design direction and key trends for the Dresses, Woven Tops and Soft Skirts categories.
  • Identifying and delivering detailed style direction to develop existing products, as well as proposing new product opportunities
  • Ensuring product ranges are innovative and in line with the handwriting, consistent with brand vision and direction.
  • Entrepreneurial approach to think outside of the box and design passionate collections.
  • Ensuring Fabric Trends are sourced promptly and in accordance to the CP to actively push these in to the ranges.
  • Developing and maintaining an in-depth understanding of the market, supplier base, competitors and customer segments
  • Collaborating with the Buyer to ensures all bestselling styles have been updated and moved on to fully capitalise on opportunities
  • Analyse effectiveness and efficiency of Design activities against relevant benchmarks and ensure that future activities are progressively
  • more effective and efficient, including hit rate and oversampling.
  • Create Story Boards with the GM - Product and Brand, for the Stories ahead, in accordance to the CP.
Financial Accountability
  • Alongside the Buyer, utilise weekly trade reports and forward projections to trade the department
  • Range achieves sales and profit KPI\'s each season
  • Ensure the range delivers innovation, flexibility, quality, speed to market and is within pricing strategy
  • Generation of new ideas to improve sales and profitability
  • Range Building
  • Drive department strategies alongside the Buyer, use this to build a balanced range reflective of market mindset and department
  • Teamwork
  • Build effective relationships with the team, suppliers, and key stakeholders across the business
  • Take full responsibility for department KPI performance
  • Positively contribute to a cohesive team environment
  • Maximise team performance through effective collaboration to drive efficiency and profitability
Requirements

Qualifications
  • Degree in Fashion Design
Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years in a similar role within womenswear apparel
  • Excellent knowledge of all fabrications and product categories
  • Experience working in the Canada fashion industry
  • Familiarity in dealing within a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Strong technical knowledge and garment construction skills
  • Extensive fabric and raw material knowledge
  • Demonstrate a high understanding of all critical path elements and their impact on sales
  • Computer literacy in Computer literacy in InDesign, Illustrator, CAD and PowerPoint
  • Computer literacy in desktop products, including Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word)
