Set merchandising vision and strategy for the brand through visual direction, effective in-store planning, signage, and exceptional merchandising strategies to meet financial targets.
Actively monitor and adjust to market, trends, and competition.
Collaborate with Purchasing and Marketing Departments, and Merchandising Planner, to plan new product launches and fixture rollouts.
Work in partnership with the Marketing Department to support all promotions and sales events with in-store signage and merchandising.
Create and maintain visual merchandising content for internal programs, this involves the creation of visual merchandising displays and concepts, presenting them in a captivating way via images and planograms.
2. Store Support: 35%
Support and direct the visual merchandising needs of all stores.
Manage merchandising props and monitor inventory on a regular basis.
Determine fixture needs for current, new, and pop-up stores and work with vendors to order replenishment or develop new props or fixtures.
Provide and maintain training programs that strengthen inventory management, visual merchandising and display skill sets within the store teams.
Coordinate the in-house production of feature, markdown and specialty signage as needed for all stores, within budgets and timelines.
Review the overall store environment as it relates to the customer experience and ensure that concerns are escalated to the appropriate department for resolution.
Collaborate with District Managers to integrate operational and visual merchandising objectives.
Participate in biannual in-store walkthroughs of the chain (with members of Purchasing, Marketing, District Managers and Store Managers) to ensure the consistency and quality of merchandising and inventory management.
Develop and roll out store-level signage filing and tracking.
Monitoring competition and adopting best practices.
Assist in maintaining Merchandising Resources.
3. Reporting & Analysis: 15%
Strong knowledge of KPIs related to visual merchandising.
Drive sales through business analysis and proper placement of merchandise.
Optimize spaces, and analyze traffic flow patterns to maximize sales per sq ft.
Assess sales metrics and revenue generated by visual merchandising activities, and present results to senior management.
Analyze merchandise assortment to identify and interpret business opportunities for each store.
Review markdown activity and plan the exit strategy for discontinued or delisted products.
Prepare product line reviews, interpret the reports, and create action plans for the merchandising team and or stores to execute.
4. Special Projects: 10%
Plan store window themes and execute window changes that bring the brand to life.
Contributing to strategies for enhancing store ambience and seasonal merchandise displays.
Assist in large store merchandising revamps.
Participate in projects such as store openings (being on-site for the full duration of the project - sometimes requiring hotel stays when the location is outside of the GTA.
Requirements
Undergraduate Degree or College Diploma in design, visual merchandising, or related field.
5 years of relevant work experience in visual merchandising.
3 years of proven leadership experience in a collaborative cross-functional team environment.
High-level understanding of design, composition, and layout principles.
Field Operations team are required to work at corporate office, or store locations for all shifts.Regularly scheduled visits to all stores (store walkthroughs with District Managers and Store Management teams), with up to 3 stores per day (multiple stores/cities per day).Standard work week with flexibility to work additional hours as needed during peak seasons.
Strong interpersonal skills supporting a team environment.
Excellent English communication verbal and written.
Strong process management skills, including the ability to develop and maintain production schedules.
Proficient planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail.
Ability to recognize and react to changing work demands.
Adept with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Open Office, Outlook programs and basic photography skills.
Must be able to work shifts standing and walking and able to lift approximately 20 lbs.
Must be able to pack, unpack and move stock when supporting receiving/stocking functions.
Valid driver\'s license and access to drive a motor vehicle - required to travel to all Ontario stores.
