Richmond Christian School (RCS) is dedicated to "equipping all students to joyfully serve Christ in all aspects of life." RCS is the educational home for more than 1100 students from Early Learning through Grade 12. Position Summary
The Secondary Campus Vice Principal will be a key member of the educational leadership team and need to be a strong collaborator and have strong interpersonal and presenting skills, along with a deep understanding of Secondary education. A 1.0 FTE / 350 students will be provided at the Secondary campus. The Principal will allocate responsibilities, as approved by the Superintendent, when the allotted FTE is assigned to more than one person.
Key Responsibilities
1- Primary Function:
1. To serve as the assistant to the Secondary Campus Principal with administrative responsibilities for the planning, organization, control and leadership of the Secondary Campus and administrative processes within the school.
2. To serve on the Education Team and assist in providing educational leadership at the Secondary campus in the design and implementation of the educational program.
2- Position Summary:
The Secondary Campus Vice Principal will work with the Principal to provide instructional leadership through:
Developing a positive, Secondary school culture.
Coordination of a Secondary campus program.
Providing professional development resources and opportunities for teachers
Assistance in administrative processes
The Secondary Campus Vice Principal will work with the Direct of Learning and Formation (DoLF) and Principal to provide instructional leadership, to provide support and feedback to colleagues and may teach classes that model "quality Christ-centered education."
3- Administrative Responsibility
1.
a. Develop a positive, Christ-centered school culture.
b. Coordinate details of the Secondary Campus program, including activities such as rotations, clubs, cross-graded groupings, chapels, report cards, etc.
c. Ensure provincial expectations outlined by the Ministry in the BC Education Plan for the Secondary Campus are being met (ie. Core Competency development, assessment, reporting, etc.)
2.
a. Supervise student conduct within the school and oversee disciplinary procedures, keeping records of any disciplinary action.
i. work with students who are disciplinary problems and take appropriate action, including;
1. recommendations regarding suspension and expulsion
3. maintain appropriate records of student behaviour and disciplinary action.
4. assist staff members in resolving student behaviour problems.
5. inform students, parents and staff or their rights and responsibilities.
6. attend, as required, hearings regarding student discipline.
7. conference with parents, students and teachers regarding student discipline
b. Administer laws, regulations and policies pertaining to student attendance.
i. inform students, teacher, parents of regulations regarding attendance.
ii. report students' attendance to parents
iii. counsel students regarding attendance
iv. monitor and maintain records of individual student attendance.
v. conference with parents, students and teacher regarding student attendance
c. Oversee the Curriculum Budgets assigned to the Department Heads, that includes purchasing and reviewing needs for resources and instructional aides and alignment with school educational priorities.
Coordinate and implement course selection evenings for all high school students and their parents in conjunction with the principal and academic counsellor to create and strengthen partnership with parents and equip parents to be directly involved with their student's growth in a healthy and positive way,
Work with Department Heads, while supporting and giving direction to Teachers in the area of curriculum development and growth for students in Grades 9-12.
Oversee extra-curricular activities within the school and work to bring them to fit within the mission and vision for the secondary campus,
Work collaboratively with the Principal, Administrative Assistant, Development Director and additional teachers on Graduation activities

a. Scheduling
i. Assist in the scheduling of classes and the development of master schedules.
ii. Assist in the planning, scheduling, and organization of whole-school extra- curricular activities.
b. Assessment
i. Assist in the development of report card templates.
ii. Assist in the development and revision of learning outcomes.
iii. Assist in reading report cards to ensure accuracy prior to reports being sent home.
c. School Handbooks
i. Assist in the preparation of the student and staff handbooks.
d. School Safety
i. Assist in implementing the school safety protocols and crisis management plans.
4. Additional responsibilities, as assigned by the Principal or DoLF:
a. serve as Principal in the absence of the Principal.
b. assist the Principal in conducting staff meetings.
c. act for the Principal or DoLF in areas of responsibility to which Vice Principal is assigned.
d. assist the Principal or DoLF with parent organizations, as assigned
e. assist with the planning and coordination of evening meetings, eg. open house, orientation, commencement
f. arrange for TOC's when needed

Educational Leadership Responsibilities
1. Attend and actively patriciate in all Education Team meetings.
2. Promote and develop a positive culture of collaboration and excitement among staff.
3. Work with the Principal and/or DoLF to plan for and lead collaboration meetings and campus professional development.
4. Work on curriculum projects within Secondary teaching Staff, facilitating regular cross-subject and cross-graded learning experiences rooted in inquiry and problem-based learning.
5. Stay abreast of research and effective practices to promote learning.
6. Work with the Principal to support teachers in unit and lesson planning, by offering feedback, suggesting resources, and supporting effective pedagogy.
7. Assist the Principal in supporting staff in the development and follow-through of professional growth plans.
8. Assist the Principal in completion of summative teacher evaluations.
9. Suggest curriculum improvements or needs for evaluation of current programs to be followed up by Principal, DoLF and/or Education Team.
10. Suggest and facilitate learning experiences that may include field trips, outdoor education, community projects, guest speakers, and authentic audiences.
11. Organize and implement Parent Information Nights to partner and educate parents on important educational changes and shifts that are occurring in BC and RCS, in consultation with the Principal and DoLF.
12. Oversee, organize, and record all responsibilities outside of supervising testing of the FSA and other school wide assessment. Responsibility includes using data to reflect, adjust and recommend potential educational program changes based on trends and student needs.
13. Research, attend Professional Development and collaborate with Provincial contacts (SCSBC, MOE, FISA) that allows RCS to be current regarding educational trends and implementation.
5- Qualifications, Requirements, Skills, and Abilities
Required:
BC teaching certification.
Master's Degree (or working towards one).
Demonstrated school leadership (committee chair, assistant principal, department chair, etc.)
Evidence of positive relationships with students, faculty and staff, and parents through references andcurrent leadership practices.
Excellent organizational and communication skills (speaking and writing abilities).
Involvement in a Christian church.
Preferred:
5+ years teaching experience at the high school level.
Experience teaching/leading in a Christian school.
Any specialty training in assessment, curriculum and pedagogy, restorative practices, and the integration oftechnology in learning.
Knowledge of Universal Design Learning (UDL), Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Technology integration.
Knowledge of best practices related to Grade 9-12 curriculum, instruction, assessment, technology, andschool community.
Ability to manage stressful and time-sensitive situations.
Effective interpersonal style, takes initiative, practices flexibility.
Enthusiasm to help develop and support change and new initiatives.
Develops and promotes a Christian World View in the educational program.
Pay:
The salary for this position for the 2025-26 school year ranges from $118,175.69 to $125,835.22, based on experience and qualifications. This range will be reviewed and updated for the 2026-27 school year.
