Poplar River First Nation

is seeking an experienced school administrator for the 2025/2026 school year.

Poplar River School provides Nursery/Kindergarten to Grade 12 classes to a student population of approximately 400 students. We offer competitive remuneration and benefits package and provide subsidized housing, furnished apartments, free Wi-Fi, and travel allowance.

Our school employs 1 Principal, 2 Vice Principals, 28 Teachers, 30 Educational Assistants, 10+ Support Staff. We offer 2 Professional Development opportunities to staff including other local opportunities throughout the year.

The candidate should have:

Bachelor of Education Degree

Certificate in School leadership

Experience of 3 years of more working in First Nations school

Strong commitment to maintaining a safe and positive school environment

Strong skills in staff & curriculum development

Strong analytical, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills

Strong technological (IT) Skills - Power School Training Available

Ability to handle stressful situations, multi-task, and work as a team

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to stay organized and meet deadlines

Poplar River is a

remote

(fly-in) community on the east side of Lake Winnipeg. Winter road, to Berens River, is accessible from December to March. There is an all-weather road from Berens River to Winnipeg. Flight time from St. Andrews airport is 1 hour 15mins. Daily flight service is available, except Saturdays.
