The Vice President, Legal, as a member of the senior leadership team reporting to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Development, Legal Affairs and Corporate Secretary, is responsible for providing legal advice, counsel and oversight on issues related to governance, operations, corporate structure, financings, trade, real estate, environmental, Indigenous communities, natural resources, and regulatory matters. In fulfilling this responsibility, the VP, Legal will ensure the assets and the integrity of the company are protected and that all transactions are managed in a professional manner. The VP, Legal will also assist the executive and leadership team with potential merger and acquisition opportunities.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned lawyer who has worked nationally and internationally within a complex, resource based, corporate environment where they have provided legal, business and strategic advice as well as counsel on a broad range of issues including contract, litigation, regulatory issues, labour, trade, governance, financing, acquisitions, and divestitures. Alternatively, experience in a law firm dealing with complex commercial agreements supporting primary resource companies ideally in the forestry, mining or oil and gas sectors. Providing senior legal advice in a publicly traded company is a definite asset.
This role is based at Canfor\'s corporate head office in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The salary range for this position is: $220,000 - $260,000.
