The Role of Vice President - Employment Services

Job Purpose
An outstanding HR professional who will be responsible for delivering the Peninsula HR service to our client base, ensuring a best in class experience from both a technical and customer experience perspective.

Job Overview

With a department of 35 FTE plus, delivering a HR service for over 5,500 clients \xe2\x80\x93 this is a critical role for our Canadian Business. We are looking for someone who can bring dynamism, operational excellence, excellent people skills and technical expertise and can thrive working in a fast paced and entrepreneurial environment.

We need someone with a real operational view on how we can enhance the customer journey, deliver the Peninsula service through all available channels, embracing technology where possible. The individual will also play a key part in working with the board to drive HR sales through their knowledge of the marketplace, driving referrals, and engaging with the Peninsula Sales Teams.

Day-to-Day Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the HR function for Peninsula Canada.
  • To drive performance in business-critical key KPIs and develop and motivate a large department, achieving this through objective setting, vision and strong communication/leadership.
  • To manage the department to deliver against targets in relation to client service, retention, referrals and profitability.
  • To build and maintain an effective, cohesive and motivated service function, providing leadership and support to team leaders, colleagues and peers.
  • To lead and drive the Managers within the Employment Services/HR Department, ensuring they are close to their teams, and that their teams are being optimised from an output perspective and quality of service delivery is industry leading.
  • To proactively collaborate with management to design, develop and implement a portfolio of development strategies and initiatives to support business needs.
  • To ensure that knowledge levels of both sales and service teams and control mechanisms are maintained through the appropriate provision of business information, quality management, the monitoring of performance levels and the provision of development activities within an established culture of change.
  • To invest in the training and career development of your people to ensure exceptional service delivery.
  • To drive the coaching initiative within the department, ensuring team leaders and consultants receive the necessary coaching and support, achieving continuous improvement in quality across the department.
  • To undertake training with new and existing members of the team as identified through coaching, mystery shopping and in line with our learning and development framework.
  • To develop and implement a strategy to ensure there is strong technical knowledge across the department with high quality service provided incorporating best practice and fresh thinking ensuring to support employee and client retention.
  • To work closely with the CEO to help drive the strategy for increasing HR Sales across Peninsula Canada.
  • To report on and review all HR delivery metrics to the board on a weekly basis, identifying issues at source quickly and rectifying them.
  • To undertake and lead the mystery shopping within the department.
  • To deal with client complaints and any service issues in a timely manner, ensuring that a satisfactory conclusion is reached on all occasions.
  • To develop links and relationships with internal stakeholders to enhance existing relationships and to maximise development opportunities.
  • To contribute to effective cross department and cross team communication with a particular emphasis on collaborating with the wider Peninsula team & Group.
  • To promote awareness of additional services within the Group and subsequently drive referrals within the department.
  • To drive and deliver a hands-on culture within the department, remaining close to the detail in every aspect of HR for Peninsula Canada.
  • To deliver a continuous improvement culture, consistently reviewing the department from a technical, customer service, commercial and cost perspective.
  • To recruit, manage and lead a motivated department with a high-performance culture.
  • To assist and lead in any recruitment and interviews for the department ensuring that staffing levels are maintained and staff attrition is reduced.
  • To manage team resources through effectively planning and allocating workloads; managing absence and staff turnover; recruitment and succession planning.
  • To effectively manage all Consultant workloads, in line with departmental requirements and to ensure that we efficiently respond to client queries.
  • To prepare departmental reports as required.
  • To monitor and review Consultants\' overall performance activity on a daily basis, providing detailed periodical reports as required.
  • To drive an optimal delivery model through utilisation of HR consultants to drive maximum number of visits without impacting quality.
  • To conduct, where necessary, any formal meetings such as disciplinary and grievance and be the point of appeal as necessary to provide the relevant outcomes in line with the Employee Handbook.
  • To maximise the use of technology within the department to drive time and cost savings.
  • To own the budget for the Employment Services/HR Department ensuring the department is run commercially and drive cost savings through optimisation of systems, people, and technology.
  • To support on any business beneficial accreditations.
  • To represent Peninsula on all matters linked to HR.
  • To participate in external training events and conferences for clients and prospective clients, and to represent the business in external media events, to include radio interviews.
  • To strive to constantly improve our client attrition figure in all activities you undertake.
