BloorMill Veterinary Hospital is looking for a friendly and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our supportive and fun-loving team. This role includes providing exceptional customer service, helping with the handling and restraint of pets such as cats, dogs and rabbits, managing appointment scheduling, and supporting the daily operations of our busy clinic.

Duties
Greet clients and their pets warmly to create a welcoming atmosphere
Obtain medical history and basic vital signs such as temperature, heart rate, and respiratory rate
Assist in the safe restraint of animals for procedures such as blood draws, nail trims, and diagnostic imaging
Manage appointment scheduling and coordinate follow-up visits
Answer phone calls, respond to client inquiries, and provide accurate information about our services
Maintain and update patient records in our database
Assist with check-in and check-out procedures, including payment processing
Support clinic staff with administrative tasks such as filing, emailing, and texting clients
Prepare prescription medications accurately under veterinary supervision
Handle basic laboratory sample processing
Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional reception area and clinic space
Qualifications
Previous experience in a veterinary assistant or reception role is preferred but not required. A positive attitude and willingness to learn are most important
Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
Compassionate attitude toward animals, pet owners, and coworkers
Experience with veterinary software such as Avimark is an asset
