Bridge Street Veterinary Hospital is seeking a compassionate and motivated team member for a combined role as a Veterinary Assistant & Reception. This individual will be a primary point of contact for clients, ensuring the needs of both clients and patients are met, and have enormous influence on the quality of care provided to our pet patients. We aim to foster positive, lasting relationships with clients and cultivate a kind and gentle environment for our patients. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a veterinary hospital setting and a high degree of motivation to learn.
Responsibilities
- Act as the main liaison between clients and the medical staff (veterinarians, technicians) to ensure exemplary patient care and efficiency of the hospital
- Provide prompt and accurate information to clients and assist them with any concerns related to their pets
- Nurture lasting relationships with clients and ensure patients receive quality care
- Collaborate with a diverse team of professionals to achieve superior health outcomes
- Receptionist duties including answering phones, text messages, emails, booking appointments, checking patients in, invoicing, and following-up with patients for continuity of care
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during exams, treatments, and procedures
- Assist veterinarians with note-taking, documentation, follow-up, and client education
- Maintaining patient records, aid in processing referrals, collaborating with specialists
- Assist with explanations of care plans and procedures
- Assist with blood draws, laboratory work, radiographs, and more
- Filling prescriptions, taking patient histories, discharging patients with instructions
- Cleaning, stocking, and maintenance of the hospital environment

Requirements
- A genuine love for animals and a desire to make a difference in their lives
- Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or veterinary receptionist
- Previous experience in a client-facing role, with receptionist duties, or customer service
- Attention to detail, ability to multi-task, time-management, ability to triage/prioritize
- Strong communication skills (written/verbal) and exceptional interpersonal skills
- A proactive, self-starter attitude who works well in a team based setting
- Kind, gentle, and considerate approach to all patients, clients & fellow team members
- Motivation and passion to learn more and grow professionally
Training and mentorship related to Fear Free, Cat Friendly & AAHA will be provided
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 - 25 per week
