Job Overview

Hopital Veterinaire General is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to support our veterinary team in providing exceptional care for small of animals patients. This position involves assisting veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries, ensuring a smooth workflow within the hospital. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in animal health and welfare, along with relevant veterinary and animal handling experience. Duties

Assist veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures Restrain animals safely using proper techniques to facilitate examinations and procedures Prepare and maintain sterile fields using aseptic techniques for surgeries and procedures Handle animals gently and effectively, including dogs, cats Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians Perform basic laboratory tests and assist with sample collection for diagnostic purposes Care for animals before and after procedures, including feeding, and cleaning Monitor animal vital signs and report any abnormalities to the veterinary team Maintain accurate records of treatments, procedures, and patient histories
Skills

Veterinary care experience preferred; familiarity with emergency procedures is a plus Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and basic medical procedures Experience with animal handling techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff Proficiency in animal catheterization, laboratory work, and aseptic techniques Ability to handle animals gently while maintaining control during examinations or treatments Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with veterinary staff and pet owners Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently Able to demonstrate an interest in learning veterinary medicine Prior experience is advantageous but not required
