According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, more than a third of global fish stocks are currently subject to overfishing. The organization also recognizes aquaculture as an essential measure for reducing the burden on wild fish stocks, while providing a sustainable and nutritious protein source for consumers.

Vessel Captain

to join our team in St. Alban's, NL.

Reports to:

Marine Operations Manager

Duties and responsibilities but not limited to:

Overall feed vessel operations, including navigation, safety, maintenance, and supervising the crew Ensure the vessel is operated in compliance with Regulations Ensure that Safety Protocols, Policies and Procedures are followed Maintain logs and records of vessel operations Conduct inspections Operating machinery such as cranes, compressors, forklifts, etc. Assist the utility crew with site setups, daily site maintenance, net washing, and harvesting as needed

Other:

Must have a Fishing Master IV Certificate Knowledge of marine open net pen aquaculture facilities Strong understanding of maritime safety regulations and best practices Knowledge of navigation and logistics Tact and good judgement in dealing with people and stressful situations Strong leadership and communications skills Strong work ethic Must be eligible to work in Canada

Job Type:

Full-time, permanent

Expected hours:

40 per week; standard hours are from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, following the continental shift pattern.
