Taking Root is looking for a purpose driven UX/UI Lead to join our Product team to play a pivotal role in helping us craft digital experiences that are both intuitive and engaging for our reforestation platform\xe2\x80\x99s users in Latin America and the Caribbean. The ideal candidate will utilize their expertise in understanding and translating user needs into designs that help facilitate rapid adoption, efficient use, and accuracy.

Reporting to the Product Director, the UX/UI Lead will play a critical role in contributing to our aim of building a technology product that our reforestation partners will love to use. A well-designed UI/UX directly contributes to our strategic goals by enabling our partners to manage reforestation efforts more effectively and at scale, supporting our long-term mission of restoring the world\xe2\x80\x99s forests.

This is a full-time position, and due to current team location and international travel requirements, we are open to a various working locations and arrangements, including but not limited to:

Responsibilities:

• Create visually appealing and intuitive UI designs that work in multiple languages, ensuring consistency and usability across web and mobile platforms.
• Design wireframes, mock-ups, and interactive prototypes for mobile and web platforms. Provide detailed design specs to development teams.
• Work alongside our design team to create, implement, and maintain a design system for Taking Root using best practices to ensure consistency across our platform and keep our product on brand.
• Conduct user research to understand the needs and behaviors of our end-users, including project implementers, technicians, and farmers.
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative research, gather feedback, and analyze user behavior to improve app functionality and user experience.
• Collaborate with product managers, data science, engineers, reforestation team, and other stakeholders to understand project goals, user needs, and business requirements.
• Developing and executing a long-term UX/UI strategy in alignment with company goals.
• Contribute to the strategic planning of product features and roadmaps.
• Drive product design by leveraging insights from user research to generate innovative and effective solutions to design problems.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience required:

• Bachelor\'s degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, UX Design, Visual Communication Design, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications in UX/UI design an asset.
• 5+ years of professional experience in UX/UI design, with a proven track record of designing and implementing effective web and mobile interfaces.
• Strong portfolio of past design projects demonstrating creativity, skills, and experience, emphasizing problem-solving and user-centered design solutions.
• Experience in a leadership role spearheading design projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Experience collaborating with stakeholders to understand their goals and uncover customer/business needs and translating them into intuitive and engaging digital experiences.
• Experience engaging with diverse user groups and using empathy to identify their true needs and pain points, beyond surface-level feedback.
• Expertise in documenting interaction details and visual design specs, and deep experience working within brand guidelines and design systems.
• Strong grasp of design principles and theories, and proficiency in UX research methodologies, including user interviews, usability testing, and data analysis.
• Experience working with Agile (Kanban, Scrum, etc.) teams, and proficiency in UI design tools and software, such as Figma.
• Experience in designing for diverse user groups, with an emphasis on usability and accessibility. Design experience with data intensive applications and designing data visualizations / dashboards.
• Ability to fluently speak, read and write English and Spanish.
• Ability to travel once a quarter within Latin America and the Caribbean, and to Canada once annually (if international applicant).
• Lived or working experience in Latin America, with experience within Dominican Republic or Nicaragua considered a plus.
• Experience planning and doing user research with populations in Latin America and the Caribbean is considered a plus.

Compensation

Please note that the posted salary range provided is derived from compensation analysis conducted on the labour market within metropolitan Canada. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on adjustment for geographical region, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.
