About the Team

Our User Research team drives discovery across Wave to support intuitive and enriching product experiences. We are a collaborative group that supports Product, Marketing, and other key groups to make research-informed decisions that have a meaningful impact on small businesses’ financial operations.

About the UX Researcher

As UX Researcher, you will help teams understand our users at a human level, uncovering what inspires them to act, what keeps them up at night, what motivates their decisions and what helps them feel understood. You’ll apply your expert skill-set to uncover our customer’s end-to-end product experience and synthesize insights that inform strategic prioritization and decision making in support of making Wave work better for our small business owners.
Reporting to the Product Research Lead, you will move fluidly between driving strategic research for key Product teams to coaching and supporting others to level up overall research quality at Wave. Implementing a variety of research approaches, you will have opportunities to learn, grow, and explore various product areas, while helping to shape Wave’s user research practice and processes.

Here’s how you’ll make an impact:

  • Collaborate with Product Designers and Product Managers to identify research needs and lead teams through user research initiatives from inception to socialization.
  • Guide and conduct strategic, tactical and evaluative research studies, making sure the appropriate methods are used and implemented correctly.
  • Analyze, synthesize, and share research findings from multiple sources as actionable insights in partnership with Product Designers and Product teams to drive business outcomes.
  • Support cross-functional teams to improve their understanding and execution of research practices and processes by reviewing research plans, methods, implementation and/or sense-making activities.
  • Support the optimization and evolution of research tools and processes to enable teams to execute effectively on their own research initiatives and store/share insights efficiently.
  • Champion user research and advocate for user needs to strengthen user-centered design, decision-making, and culture.

You’ll thrive here if you

  • Have a strong grasp of qualitative research methods (user interviews, concept testing, competitive analysis, etc.) and a moderate-to-strong grasp of quantitative research methods (survey design, quantitative data analysis, etc.)

  • Are motivated to build strong, meaningful relationships with multidisciplinary colleagues across Wave
  • Are a willing collaborator and comfortable in both a lead and supportive role, based on the needs of the situation and stakeholders

  • Are excited to apply your skills and background from previous industries, roles, or disciplines to improve our product and innovate on our research approaches
