Position:
Uplink Engineering Technician, Level 3 Location: Mobile (throughout North America) Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Required to work weekdays, evenings and/or weekends as assigned, specifically evenings/overnight shifts. Overtime as required

Responsibilities:


  • Work collaboratively in multidisciplinary team to represent the satellite system trucks in defining scope, system requirements and broadcast/media solutions
  • Successfully operate mobile Ku and C Band satellite uplink facilities
  • Operate, Monitor and report any issue associated with an uplink facility, including RF, Audio, Video, Compression and modulation equipment
  • Identify, troubleshoot and provide solutions for technical problems on RF, Audio, Video and Compression systems
  • Provide engineering support for facilities on mobile remote productions
  • Communicate with client and suppliers to establish uplink details
  • Plan and support the uplink connection and use of its equipment for event coverage
  • Assist operators and production as required
  • Maintain all types of television broadcast equipment, including switchers, cameras, audio consoles, and media playout
  • Ability to understand alternate link technologies such as LEO, 5G modem, ISP links, OTT and Streaming like devices


Qualifications:


  • Recognized certificate in Broadcast Technology or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years technical television experience
  • Effective skills in communicating with clients and support groups
  • Understanding of Satellite communications and RF technology
  • Understanding of Network workflow, topology and peripherals
  • Understanding of ASI, MPEG, JPEG, HEVC, TSoverIP, SRT and other compression methods
  • Thorough knowledge of all types of broadcast equipment
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and work in a fast paced enviroment
  • Experience with computer systems and applications, etc
  • Knowledge of MS Office and database applications


Additional Requirements:


  • Ability to travel within Canada and USA
  • Must hold a valid Canadian G-Class driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
  • Required to work weekdays, evenings and/or weekends as assigned, specifically evenings/overnight shifts
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment and deal with emergencies as they arise
