We are seeking a Unit Manger to join our busy and dynamic team in the Child & Adolescent Acute Care Mental Health Program at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (Station 35 & 36). This unit sees a large and diverse population. In this position you will have the opportunity to have a direct and positive impact on the trajectories of children, youth, and families. In this role you will be a clinical leader, mentor and advocate, supporting your staff in providing high quality patient-centered care. In collaboration with the Program Manager, you will be responsible for leading change management and quality improvement, promoting team development, and coordinating and managing staffing and clinical services. You will also be responsible for clinical supervision, recruitment, budget management, and appraisals for staff. As the unit manager you will also be responsible for supporting staff, building knowledge and capacity, influencing change and building confidence for change. As the unit manager, you will possess skills in critical and analytical thinking, decision-making, communication, teamwork, prioritization, time management, advocacy and conflict management. To be successful in this role you will demonstrate a passion in team engagement, coaching, and professional development including the ability to foster a climate of cooperation and collaboration building solid relationships between inter-professional team members. Required Qualifications: Degree in health sciences – such as: nurses, clinical psychology, social work, occupational therapy, psychiatric nursing, nurse practitioner. Active or eligible for registration with relevant licensing body, such as CARNA, AROT, CRPNA, ACSW, CAP. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
Additional Required Qualifications:
A minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in related areas such as: acute care, pediatrics, addiction, or mental health.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous supervisory, management or mentorship experience. Previous clinical experience in child and adolescent mental health. Previous experience with community care. Previous experience within an in-patient psychiatric unit. Previous experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE). Master’s degree in related field (Nursing, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy). Prosci Change Management Certification.
