The Underwriting Manager of Design Professional Canada (\xe2\x80\x9cDP Canada\xe2\x80\x9d) will also work closely with the Head of Design Professional, Chief Underwriting Officer as well as the functional managers in Canada to help manage profitable growth, retention, service delivery and expense oversight for the DP Canada profit center.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
\xc2\xb7 Ensure that Design Professional\xe2\x80\x99s Canadian presence fulfils growth objectives in line with Country and Product objectives by:
\xc2\xb7 Assessing the current book of business and developing annual business plans that are consistent with the Canada Business Unit and Design Professional Underwriting Group\xe2\x80\x99s overall underwriting strategies and objectives.
\xc2\xb7 Driving growth by identifying new opportunities (i.e., new channels, new products, new customers) and enhancing existing markets (i.e., deeper relationships with existing brokers and clients) through marketing of the merits of AXA XL Design\xe2\x80\x99s value proposition.
\xc2\xb7 Establishing and implementing strategic and operational objectives that will result in both short-term successes and the achievement of long-term goals.
\xc2\xb7 Managing the marketing, sales and distribution strategies within Canada including proactively supporting broker, market and association interactions which support growth.
\xc2\xb7 Concurrently driving the alignment and collaboration of teams across segments, product lines, support functions and geographical boundaries.
\xc2\xb7 Ensure the highest degree of underwriting standards and profitability by:
\xc2\xb7 Driving underwriting excellence through audits, loss/activity analyses and regular communication of governance/compliance issues.
\xc2\xb7 Working within established underwriting guidelines for account structure, coverages, extensions and limits utilization.
\xc2\xb7 Ensuring the achievement of continued profitability, growth and operational efficiencies through managing the mix of business, underwriting profitability and expenses.
\xc2\xb7 Coordinating underwriting objectives, authority levels and product enhancements relative to AXAXL Design\'s overall underwriting strategy together with the GCUO.
\xc2\xb7 Organizational Effectiveness and People Management by:
\xc2\xb7 Implementing a culture of operational excellence by leading the identification, evaluation and implementation of operational efficiencies.
\xc2\xb7 Ensuring strategies and policies are in place to support recruitment, retention and engagement of team members required to meet present and future staffing needs.
\xc2\xb7 Managing and actively implementing training and development plans for direct reports and high potential employees.
\xc2\xb7 Loss Prevention Education Programs
\xc2\xb7 Work with AXAXL Design Professional\'s internal education team to research, design, develop and deliver training programs, educational content and resources to customers that will be focused on improving customers\xe2\x80\x99 risk management and loss prevention practices to reduce their claims, improve their business practices and support their success.
\xc2\xb7 Mentor and train new internal employees and external brokers within our distribution network by supporting the development and maintenance of training documentation such as leaders\xe2\x80\x99 guides, presentations/slide decks and training activities.
You will report to the Head of Professional, Cyber and Financial Lines-Canada.

\xc2\xb7 Several years of experience in professional liability insurance, ideally within the design professional services industry and with a professional designation.
\xc2\xb7 Demonstrated critical thinking / analytical skills and attention to detail.
\xc2\xb7 Excellent facilitation and presentation skills - comfortable presenting in front of large and small audiences in person and via webinar format.
\xc2\xb7 Excellent written and verbal communication skills; the ideal candidate will be able to create content to be published online or in print media.
\xc2\xb7 Self-starter that can work independently with effective organizational, time management, and administrative skills.
\xc2\xb7 Change agent: able to be flexible and adaptable when dealing with change by sponsoring and implementing the necessary changes.
\xc2\xb7 Excel in a team environment and be open to constructive feedback.
\xc2\xb7 Some travel is required.
