UNDERWRITING ANALYST - SYSTEMS & PROCESS ENABLEMENT



Location and Status:



Victoria or Burnaby, BC


Full-time, Permanent (35 hrs/week)


Hours: 9am - 5pm


Acera's total compensation offerings are based on pay for performance that recognizes exceptional individual and company performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $75,000 to $85,000 CAD annually; the pay offering is based on location and will vary depending on related education, client service experience, proven knowledge, skills, and internal equity.

Job Summary:



We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Underwriting Analyst to support our underwriting team with the successful implementation and adoption of new systems and process improvements. This role will play a critical part in conducting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), developing and documenting workflows, writing test scripts, and delivering training to ensure our underwriting team operates efficiently and effectively with evolving tools and platforms.



The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of underwriting operations and technology implementation, along with a passion for improving processes and user experience.

Key Responsibilities:



System Testing & Implementation



Assist project lead with

User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

for new underwriting systems and ongoing enhancements. Create and maintain detailed

test scripts

to validate system functionality, identify bugs, and confirm user requirements. Support testers during UAT phases, as needed.

Process & Workflow Development



Develop and document

workflows

to support new underwriting systems, allowing for consistency and efficiency. Work with underwriting leads to implement process changes. Update workflows, as required.

Training & Change Management



Design and deliver

training materials, job aids, and user guides

tailored to underwriting system users. Conduct onboarding sessions and ongoing training to support adoption and skill development. Act as a

change champion

to promote engagement and confidence in new systems and tools.

Cross-Functional Collaboration



Liaise with project team members to bridge the gap between underwriting needs and system capabilities. Participate in cross-departmental initiatives to enhance data capture, automation, and service delivery.

Competencies & Qualifications:



3+ years of experience in an underwriting, business analyst, or systems support role within insurance or financial services. Demonstrated experience with

UAT planning, execution, and documentation

. Strong technical writing skills, especially for

test scripts and process documentation

. Excellent understanding of

underwriting workflows

, systems, and terminology. Skilled in tools such as Microsoft Office, Visio (or similar diagramming tools), and testing software (e.g., JIRA, TestRail). Strong communication and training facilitation skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
