Zurich Canada is currently looking for a market-facing Underwriter to underwrite new and renewal business.

Reporting to the Vice President, National Accounts Property, Central Region, the candidate will analyze and underwrite a portfolio of business (new and renewal), under limited direction, utilizing The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within delegated authority levels on highly complex assignments, ensuring a high level of service to customers.

Client Focused - The job\'s core deliverables rely on delivering service to external clients and/or customers. Typically involves building relationships and promoting the company.

What you will do

• Proactively service a renewal portfolio while actively seeking new account opportunities.
• Adhere to Zurich guidelines and underwriting discipline.
• Identify growth opportunities through key distributors Negotiate Terms & Conditions while making sound business decisions.
• Collaborate and cross-sell with other lines of business to increase product density.
• Participate in Sales Team meeting as related to assigned brokers and / or territory and initiate/assist with product development ideas.
• Proactively engage in the target account process, managing a qualified list of opportunities 90 to 120 days prior to effective date.
• Maintain and strengthen external relationships through strong communication skills and responsiveness.
• Develop and lead marketing presentations to new and current agents/brokers.
• Business Travel, as required

Job Qualifications - What you bring to the table

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
OR

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Claims area

AND

• Knowledge of lines of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines
• Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment
• Experience working on time restraints to meet customer expectations, deadlines
• Experience working in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors\' Degree with minimum 2 years\' experience in commercial P and C underwriting area
• Strong negotiation skills
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Microsoft Office skills
