Underground Trainer

to join our growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position based at the McIlvenna Bay site working a 14/14 rotation.


The McIlvenna Bay Cu-Zn-Au-Ag deposit is one of the largest undeveloped VHMS deposits in Canada. Foran recently announced (2024) approval by the Board of Directors for the project to proceed to the formal construction phase with initial production expected in Q4 2025. The McIlvenna Bay deposit's core commodities are critical for the global transition to green energy and Foran aims to extract these critical minerals in a sustainable manner by empowering local communities, contributing to circular economies and protecting the environment for future generations.


As part of the Health & Safety Team,

the Underground Trainer

primary responsibility is to assist the Training Coordinator in the design and delivery of comprehensive training programs for employees, contractors, and stakeholders.


You will develop engaging training materials, conduct interactive training sessions, and evaluate the effectiveness of the training programs. Collaborating closely with the different department, you will identify training needs, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and foster proactive safety practices.

Job Responsibilities:



Instruct engaging and interactive training sessions to employees, contractors, and stakeholders at various levels within the organization. Educate participants on hazard identification, risk assessment, and proper safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries. Train and evaluate competency of equipment operators. Deliver Underground Mine Orientation to trainees. Assist with the Health & Safety Department to conduct training on emergency response procedures, including evacuation protocols and first aid, to ensure personnel are prepared for potential workplace emergencies. Provide specialized training on safe operation and maintenance of mining equipment and machinery. Assess the effectiveness of training programs through quizzes, tests, and feedback to measure participants' understanding and knowledge retention. Maintain accurate records of training sessions, attendance, and evaluation results. Promote a strong safety culture by encouraging proactive safety practices, reporting of safety concerns, and participation in safety initiatives. Identify opportunities for enhancing training effectiveness and safety procedures and contribute to the improvement of health and safety practices at the mine site.

Job Qualifications and Skills:



Proven expertise in training, leadership, organization, communication, and interpersonal relations. A minimum of 10 years of experience in underground mining operations. Comprehensive knowledge and certification in key mining tasks, including production drilling and blasting, remote mucking, construction, shotcreting, and operation of utility vehicles such as telehandlers and forklifts. Proficiency in sandfill/paste fill, conventional drilling (Jackleg and Stoper) as well as basic rigging and slinging. Strong commitment to health and safety standards. Prior experience in training within a multicultural environment is considered an asset. Good computer skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Good understanding and working knowledge of the Saskatchewan Provincial Health & Safety, Mining Regulations Able to work in a team environment, be self-motivated and enthusiastic. Work with minimal supervision.

Compensation and Benefits:




We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $90,000/year based on experience and qualifications. Annual discretionary short term incentive award at a percentage of base salary, rewarding exceptional contributions to team and company success.
