Your role

We are looking for an experienced Producer to oversee our talented TV producer team of hosts, videographers, directors, and editors. The TV Show Producer will oversee our 30-minute English news program, Northbeat, and our 30-minute Inuktitut news program, Igalaaq.

An exceptional journalist and leader, you thrive in the fast-paced, high-pressure world of breaking news. In this position, you will produce and contribute to the planning, lineup, design and organization of Northbeat and Igalaaq, work with producers in Yukon, Nunavut and the Northwest Territories to assign reporters and cameras, propose program ideas, and interact with program participants.

Reporting to the Managing Editor, you\'ll play an integral editorial and leadership role in preparing and presenting the daily news.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

Demonstrated talent as a programmer with an ear for pacing, tone, presentation and production.

A strong team leader with the ability to inspire others.

A combination of relevant education or experience equal to that of an education in journalism or broadcasting and five years of relevant experience.

An understanding and awareness of issues and events particular to the North and to daily news across Canada\xe2\x80\x99s territories.

Superior writing, editorial and production skills. Interest in cross-platform media production.

An ability to choose relevant, audience focused stories, which reflect issues being discussed by the general public.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and deadlines.

Strong interpersonal and team playing skills.

Creative, flexible and self-motivated.

Solid journalistic background.

Quick to react and respond to breaking stories.

Demonstrated skills in the area of conflict resolution, mentoring, talent recognition and development.
