Tutor - Math & English (Curriculum & Staff Training)

Position Overview
The Tutor will play a dual role in delivering high-quality instruction to students and contributing to the ongoing development of the Academy's tutoring programs. This includes designing and refining curriculum materials, teaching students in small group and one-on-one settings, and training other staff members to deliver tutoring services to the same high standards.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Engagement
Provide tutoring in Math and English to students ranging from early elementary to middle school levels.
Adapt teaching strategies to meet the individual learning styles and needs of students.
Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adjust instruction accordingly.
Foster a supportive, engaging, and motivating learning environment.
Curriculum Development
Design and develop structured lesson plans, worksheets, and practice exercises tailored to Canadian curriculum standards.
Adapt and refine existing resources (e.g., Kumon materials, Canadian Curriculum books) into the Academy's own proprietary tutoring program.
Ensure all curriculum content supports academic growth, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Continuously evaluate and update learning materials for relevance, effectiveness, and clarity.
Staff Training & Support
Train and mentor tutoring staff on effective instructional methods and curriculum delivery.
Model best practices in classroom management, student engagement, and academic instruction.
Provide ongoing coaching, resources, and feedback to ensure consistent program delivery across all staff.
Collaborate with the Program Director to build training modules, guides, and support materials for staff.
Program Development & Collaboration
Collaborate with the Program Director to align curriculum with the Academy's educational vision.
Provide input on scheduling, program design, and assessment strategies.
Participate in staff meetings and contribute to continuous program improvement.
School Pick-ups & Daily Operations
Safely pick up students from designated schools and transport them to the Academy.
Ensure a smooth, timely, and safe transition of students from school to program.
Maintain clear communication with schools and parents regarding pick-ups when necessary.
Assist in supervising students during transitions, snacks, and non-instructional activities.
Qualifications
Previous tutoring or teaching experience in Math and English (experience with Kumon methods or similar structured programs strongly preferred).
Strong understanding of Canadian curriculum standards.
Ability to design engaging, structured, and level-appropriate learning materials.
Excellent communication, mentoring, and leadership skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance curriculum building, teaching, and staff training.

Employment Terms
Position: Part-Time, with potential for increased hours as program enrollment grows.
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate or salary, commensurate with experience and scope of responsibilities.

Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $17.85-$24.85 per hour
Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
