Position Overview

AIM Centre for Construction Exploration is a federally incorporated not-for-profit (non-charitable) organization based in Toronto, Ontario. Our mission is to provide construction-specific training, guidance, and job-ready support for newcomers, youth, and underrepresented groups seeking meaningful careers in the construction industry.

We are seeking a committed professional who can help structure AIM's not-for-profit operations while also designing curriculum and training modules that align with workforce needs. This unique role will ensure that AIM functions effectively as a non-charitable not-for-profit--focused on program sustainability through grants, government workforce funding, sponsorships, and industry partnerships, while delivering impactful training solutions for the construction workforce.

Key Responsibilities



Organizational Development (Not-for-Profit, Non-Charitable Focus)



Work with leadership to structure AIM's operational framework as a non-charitable not-for-profit, ensuring compliance with federal incorporation standards. Develop policies, procedures, and reporting systems that reflect not-for-profit best practices. Identify and align AIM with funding streams accessible to non-charitable not-for-profits (e.g., workforce development programs, provincial and federal training funds, sponsorships, service contracts). Support the Board in defining governance, accountability, and stakeholder engagement strategies. Build partnerships with construction companies, unions, workforce boards, settlement agencies, and municipal/provincial offices.

Curriculum Development & Training Design



Design job-ready training modules specific to Canada's construction sector Develop a blended learning pathway that integrates: Pre-arrival online training (for international participants). In-person training (hands-on skills development in Canada). Career guidance & workforce navigation (resume building, interview prep, job placement). Create learner-friendly materials (lesson plans, manuals, assessments, multimedia). Ensure all training is industry-relevant, accessible, and culturally responsive. Provide train-the-trainer support to instructors and community facilitators.

Funding & Program Sustainability



Collaborate on grant applications, sponsorship packages, and workforce funding proposals. Draft program descriptions, curriculum frameworks, and measurable outcomes required for funding compliance. Assist in positioning AIM as a construction-specific newcomer and workforce agency for long-term sustainability. Support non-charitable not-for-profit revenue streams (training fees, corporate partnerships, service contracts).

Monitoring & Evaluation



Establish systems for program evaluation and outcome measurement. Collect trainee and partner feedback to refine programs. Prepare reports for funders, stakeholders, and the AIM Board of Directors.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Education, Non-Profit Management, Workforce Development, or Construction-related field (Master's preferred). Minimum 3-5 years' experience in curriculum design, workforce training, or not-for-profit program development. Understanding of Ontario construction workforce needs and regulations. Familiarity with non-charitable not-for-profit operations, including funding models that do not rely on charitable tax receipts. Experience preparing grant applications, training curricula, and industry partnerships. Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $22.00-$27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
