What you can expect in a typical day

Successful Turnarounds are critical to our refining operations. As a Block Coordinator, at our refinery in Saint John, New Brunswick, you will be responsible for the development of a detailed block plan that will be executed safely in the most cost-effective means possible. This includes developing the block work list, assembling the work package, planning work, material, and equipment requirements, contractor management, and forecasting workforce requirements. If you have experience in operations, turnarounds, are very detail oriented, and enjoy working closely with cross-functional teams, this could be a great experience for you. And if you enjoy owning work from end-to-end, this could be the role for you as our Block Coordinators work planning aspects for Turnaround one year, then focus on executing the plan the next year.

Your roles and responsibilities:

Steward the turnaround safety plan and responsible for the promotion of safety as a core value

Manage Block-specific scope, budget & schedule adherence as well as KPI compliance

Development and manage the Worklist for assigned scope from development through Turnaround closeout

Schedule and conduct recurring meetings with stakeholders to ensure alignment in all respects of the turnaround

Engage scope generators to gathering potential scope in all plants included in the event outlined in the approved Premise Document

Prepare preliminary Direct Field Labour (DFL) requirements by discipline to support resource availability review, support the development of a Contracting Strategy

Develop the logistics plan for assigned area with the Turnaround Logistics Group

Develop scopes of work (SOW) for Supply management to issue contractor Request for Proposals (RFP\xe2\x80\x99s) and obtain budgets/estimates from suppliers

Identify critical and near critical paths for each Plant and work with schedulers to develop detailed Level 5 critical path and near critical path schedules

Develop execution workforce estimates for Capital Projects to support Project Solutions estimate development and turnaround planning and scheduling

Conduct field site walks and reviews with Contractors for scope clarification and budget development in conjunction with Supply Management

Support planning team with development of work packages and material requisitions as required

Prepare operated and specialty equipment requirements to support long lead confirmation and estimate development

Develop a detailed execution plan for each plant in cooperation with the Planners and Block Scheduler

Hold a detailed Execution Plan Review meeting of critical path jobs with all stakeholders to ensure alignment of the plan and importance of this work

Provide leadership to field coordinators

Review and validation of Field Change Notices (FCNs) in accordance with established processes

Steward to Completion of post-work (punch list) and Contractor demobilization in accordance with approved plans and TA close out document in conjunction with block lead

Optimize schedule in conjunction with schedulers

Professional skills

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Leadership ability.

Good working knowledge of Oracle eAM, Primavera P6, Access and Adobe

Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Education and experience

Post-secondary education in engineering, or related field, or technical diploma, or tradesperson certification.

Minimum 5 years of experience in refining; preferable in a role that includes estimating, planning, scheduling, and contractor management.

Good working knowledge of Turnaround methodology.

Experience with schedule leveling methodology by resource, priority, critical equipment, etc.
