The Transportation Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the transportation operations within the organization. This role involves managing logistics, ensuring compliance with regulations, and enhancing operational efficiency. Our core focus is on hauling freight, with occasional work involving heavy towing. We're looking for a hands-on, reliable Transportation Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day logistics and help us build a strong, efficient operation from the ground up.

This role is primarily logistics-focused

, but experience or familiarity with heavy towing is an asset. You'll be supporting both freight coordination and the operational needs of a small, active fleet. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of transportation processes, enabling them to drive improvements and ensure timely delivery of services.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement transportation strategies that align with organizational goals. Manage daily operations of the transportation department, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Coordinate with various departments to optimize logistics and improve service delivery. Monitor performance metrics to identify areas for improvement in efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Lead, train, and mentor transportation staff to enhance team performance and professional development. Oversee fleet management, including vehicle maintenance schedules and compliance checks. Establish relationships with vendors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to ensure smooth operations. Source freight, negotiate rates, and handle booking through load boards or direct relationships Prepare reports on transportation activities, budgets, and forecasts for senior management.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Proven experience in transportation management or logistics operations. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders. Proficiency in transportation management software, load link and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities effectively. Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards is a plus. Leadership experience with a focus on team development is highly desirable.

Pay: $45,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
