Business Title: Transportation Coordinator

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for CNL transportation plans and processes for all wastes and material including, but not limited to, clearable, hazardous, mixed waste, low level waste (LLW), intermediate level waste (ILW), high level waste (HLW), used fuel and high enriched uranium (HEU) for all CNL sites. (Chalk River, Pinawa, Port Hope/Port Granby, Rolphton, Gentilly and Douglas Point.)

The Transportation Coordinator reports directly to the Section Head of Transportation & Fleet. Specific CNL programs or projects will be assigned to the Transportation Coordinator and the expectation is the Transportation Coordinator will become the single point of liaison between the Transportation Program and CNL programs and projects.

What you\'ll be doing!

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for the effective planning, coordination, execution and logistics of transportation movements, including transfers and transportation both on and off of all CNL sites. This includes coordination of shipment preparation, loading and unloading, load securement, shipping and receiving execution and shipment tracking where transportation of radioactive material, hazardous waste, dangerous goods or other material is transported throughout Canada and the United States.

Primary internal and external interfaces include, but are not limited to; Decommissioning and Waste Management (DWM) programs and projects, CNL Security, CNL Nuclear Operations, CNL Nuclear Materials Management, CNL Safety and Licensing, CNL Procurement, internal/external CNL Transportation Service Providers, Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, Transport Canada, United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission, United States Department of Energy, Canadian Ministry of Transportation Agencies, United States Motor Carrier Enforcement Units and waste processing/disposal facilities throughout North America.

What we\'re looking for?

  • Successful completion of secondary school (Grade 12) with 4 to 6 years of relevant transportation operations experience.
  • Experience associated with the safe and secure transportation of dangerous goods (including radioactive/Highway Route Controlled Quantities (HRCQ)) throughout North America.
  • Proven, recent and adequate knowledge in any of the following qualifications
  • Canadian motor carrier regulations, including the Highway Traffic Act, Commercial Vehicle Operators Registration (CVOR) and Safety Abstracts United States motor carrier regulations, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Commercial Carrier Regulations and Safety Measurement System.
  • Canadian \xe2\x80\x93 Transport Canada - Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations.
  • United States \xe2\x80\x93 Title 49 Code of Federal Regulations - Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations.
  • International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) - Regulations for the Safe Transportation of Radioactive Materials, including cargo securement.
  • Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission \xe2\x80\x93 Packaging and Transport of Nuclear Substances Regulations.
  • Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission - Radiation Protection Program for Radioactive Transportation.
  • United States Transportation of Highway Route Control Quantities (HRCQ) Regulations.
  • Transport Canada Air Cargo Security Program (ACS).
  • National Safety Code Standard 10 \xe2\x80\x93 North American Cargo Securement Regulations.
  • Knowledge of international border crossing security programs, procedures and reporting requirements. This includes, Free and Secure Trade Program (FAST), Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT), Partners in Protection (PIP), Canada Self Assessment (CSA), Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) and Advanced Commercial Information (ACI).
  • Detail oriented with superior analytical capabilities and has the ability to manage logistical and operation transportation challenges on a day-to-day basis.
  • Communicates effectively in oral, written and electronic form with strong knowledge of Microsoft outlook, word and excel.
  • Must be a Reliable team player, with good time-management, problem-solving and organizational skills in order to meet client expectations and deadlines.
  • S ecurity clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom.
