Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor, the Transportation Coordinator will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Transportation program while coordinating and supporting program related activities. This is a full-time, permanent position with some local travel required.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Depending on experience, the position starts at $32.78-$34.78 per hour ($59,651.82 - $63,306.16 annually).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare a variety of documents such as correspondence, reports, briefing notes, and memorandums
Prepare, review, and submit invoices for transportation-related services, vendors, and purchases; track and reconcile related expenses
Draft intergovernmental agreements for supervisor review
Manage program related documents
Manage multi-line phone system to answer, screen, and transfer calls to the appropriate team member
Receive and pass on messages to employees
Receive, log, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail
Attend program meetings
Assist with general administrative duties including but not limited to bus scheduling, preparing correspondence and reports, student applications and filing
Order, track, and replenish program office supplies
Other related duties as required
Maintain communication with Bus Drivers and Bus Monitors during hours of operation; provide program updates as needed
Provide supervision for Bus Monitors
Coordinate and lead on-boarding for Bus Monitors
Coordinate on the job training placements for Bus Monitors
Perform the role of Bus Monitor on an as needed basis
Enforce bus safety rules and standards
Assist Bus Driver's with driving sheets and use of the two-way radio
Uphold the organization's core values of safety, service and respect
Resolve any conflicts in a positive, respectful and proactive manner
Read and interpret maps as required
Assist students entering and exiting the bus, as needed
Observe and remove potential hazards to ensure a healthy and safe environment
Other related duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School or equivalent; post-secondary preferred. Combination of education and equivalent experience may be considered
3 years of related work experience
Valid BC Class 5 driver's license, reliable vehicle and satisfactory driver's abstract required
Valid Level 1 First Aid required
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector clearance required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of Cowichan culture, customs, traditions and the Hul'q'umi'num' language
Knowledge of internal and external community resources
Knowledge of Quw'utsun Syuw'entst Lelum programs and services
Ability to create and maintain strong community connections and relationships
Well-developed written, oral and interpersonal skills
Organizational skills
Demonstrated computer literacy and an aptitude to work within a variety of electronic systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suites and other related software
Demonstrated file management proficiency; including but not limited to scanning, digital/physical files and maintain program records
Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team
Ability to work variable hours to accommodate school start/end times, early dismissals and special events
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task
Demonstrated problem solving skills
