Job Purpose

As a member of the Asset Management team and reporting to the Asset Management, the Transportation Compliance Advisor is responsible for supporting all transportation compliance functions across SECURE\xe2\x80\x99s Canadian and US business operations.

In addition, this role will be responsible for overseeing heavy truck compliance and fuel management for all divisional operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Operational Support:

  • Leading and mentor personnel involved in operation of fleet vehicles to increase regulatory awareness and improve day to day operations; leading to reduced operational impact and compliance risk
  • Support and mentor personnel involved in the operation of fleet vehicles to ensure corporate transport policies are implemented and adhered to
  • Support of budgeting, capital planning/forecasting, AFE / PO preparation for fleet related spend
  • Support and coordination of asset acquisition, transfer, and disposal; relationships with equipment resellers
  • Management and support of telematics hardware purchases, tracking and distribution
  • Support of fringe benefits program (i.e. taxable benefit program)
  • Support and communication of preferred vendors list (e.g. fuel, maintenance, etc.)
  • Manage fuel program including order, distribution, tracking and cancellation of fuel cards and reporting of fuel use
  • Support insurance renewal, binding, distribution of insurance cards
  • Develop and deliver internal training related to transportation related matters (e.g. ARI, Geotab, etc.)
Fleet Administration:
  • Monitoring and maintaining fleet management systems data (e.g. ARI, Geotab, etc.) to ensure accuracy, compliance, reporting, and efficiencies are met
  • Oversee and administer the Corporate Fleet Services and registration program; including Prorate, IRP and IFTA
  • Ownership of Secure Corporation Annual Permit Renewal (e.g. overweight, oversize, road use, etc.)
  • Registration and renewals
  • Monitor and review IFTA/Prorate systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Management of contractors conducting transportation related activities (e.g. IFTA, Prorate, Registrations, ARI, Geotab, Auditing, Training, etc.)
  • Prepare and maintain contracts for Fuel cards for heavy vehicles
Vendor Management:
  • Manage relationship with key transportation and fuel vendors.
Safety:
  • Supporting programs, policies, and practices to build a safety-first behavior-based culture and continuous improvement
  • Participate in safety meetings as required
Qualifications/Competencies

The individual in this role will have:
  • 3-5 years in a transportation compliance role with Canadian operations. US operations experience is an asset
  • Transportation, Regulatory, Logistics or Supply Chain education preferred; post-secondary education is considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and US trucking regulations including Driver Hours of Service, Vehicle Maintenance & Inspections, Transportation of Dangerous Goods/Hazmat, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems and suggest workable solutions
  • Technical and interpersonal skills to identify issues and communicate corrective and preventative actions through the involvement of management
  • Stay up to date with developments such as, changes in laws or regulations
  • Advanced capabilities with MS Office, including MS Office, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
  • Creativity and drive to build and improve upon current processes and systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven leadership abilities and exemplary customer service skills
  • Ability to deliver results under tight deadlines with multiple priorities
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team atmosphere
  • Positive attitude and willingness to take on new challenges

  • IFTA Remittance - Quarterly
  • Fuel Use Reporting - Monthly
  • Fuel Cards \xe2\x80\x93 order, distribution, tracking, cancellation
  • Prorate \xe2\x80\x93 oversee contractor
  • Permits \xe2\x80\x93 oversee commercial permitting
  • Maintaining accurate fleet details within ARI
  • Maintaining accurate fleet details within Geotab
  • Distribution Registration and Insurance for new and transferred vehicles
  • Annual fleet registration renewals
