Job Description


The Trade Marketing Manager is the communication hub within the Pet Specialty Retail and is the main liaison between internal functions (Marketing, Finance, SACA) and the Sales organization and their customers. The Trade Marketing Manager is accountable for developing robust strategies and facilitating best in class execution of the strategies in the market place that support cross brand initiatives.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Thought leadership
  • Provide thought leadership in terms of technology, consumer understanding, sales strategy, and process, in order to drive overall business growth
  • Prepare Long Term strategic thinking and direction across the portfolios through leveraging the Strategic Planning team process and effectively understanding customer insights (Key Stakeholders, Customers and Pet Owners)
  • Contribute to strategic direction of online experience & performance in the evolution of royalcanin.ca properties
  • Responsible to ensure coordinated activities and best in class interaction with customers and key stakeholders
  • Brand management and activation
  • Determine specific strategies for delivering the appropriate promotional mechanics and messaging for our target audience
  • Develop strategies and tactics that increase brand recognition
  • Execute marketing plans and drive best-in-class execution at clinic level (independent clinic and key accounts)
  • Develop, forecast and procure the required quantity and type of non-food supporting items/tools to support execution with excellence, in accordance with global guidelines provided
  • Build/Maintain and oversee relationships with agencies, and co-packing partners
  • Regularly monitor performance of activations through after action reviews, with an objective of driving continuous improvement.
  • Develop strategy on how to best leverage influencers and bring activation plans to life
  • Lead cross functional team to develop and execute the strategy and plans that ensure “One Royal Canin” is represented to the customer
  • Work collaboratively with global and regional teams, in order to execute solid programs into the market and launch innovations that fuel pillar growth
Financial Management
  • Responsible for achieving overarching Royal Canin Pillar sales targets, share and GSV targets
  • Manages fiscal budgets within guidelines set by senior Management including Market Data, Market Research, and Consumer Promotion & Advertising. Influences all areas of P&L.
Customer / Trade Marketing: (applicable to Retail Pillar)
  • Propose relevant promotional strategies and tactics for our independent stores and key accounts.
  • Develop strategies and tactics that increase brand recognition in store, interrupt and engage the shopper to increase basket conversion and category growth. ‘Perfect Store Metrics’
  • Plan, control and review promotional activities and budgets, to optimize compliance, achievement of objectives and related ROI.
  • Develop appropriate merchandising strategies in line with brand, pack, price, channel requirements to optimize consumer / shopper relevancy and conversion.
  • Manage new item set up within the Key Account Structure – Supporting RKA’s with information and physical setup for PetSmart and PetValu.
