Assist in preparation and setting up displays for the interpretive centre using materials provided by the Southwest Nova Biosphere Region Association and incorporating an interactive component for those who wish to learn through hands-on and visual stimulation.
Act as a welcomer and interpreter for visitors to the Interpretive Centre and promote an understanding of the historical, cultural, environmental and economic characteristics of the area with an emphasis on the qualities that distinguish it as a designated UNESCO biosphere reserve. This would involve interacting with visitors to provide information on the displays and the science behind the displays.
Maintain a computer at the interpretive centre that can hold additional information not available for display on site.
Verifying and update features in the SNBRA area presented in the Map App. Some digital information management expertise would be useful for an employee in this context
Conduct research and provide guidance using available computer resources provided to promote the region with visitors and assist in making connections among the various biosphere reserve components of the region.
Maintain the area in a neat and tidy condition that is inviting to the public.
Become knowledgeable of the region, the Interactive Science Atlas and the Biosphere Reserve Map App so that they can be shared and interpreted for visitors to the centre.
Assist in updating existing online regional promotional material that may be out of date by coordinating with regional tourism information offices.
Supervise visitors at the Interpretive Centre, inviting each one to sign a guest log and maintain an accurate count of the number of visitors at the site.
Complete and assist with completion of routine maintenance such as interior cleaning, picking up any litter, painting, maintaining garden displays at the interpretive centre, etc.
Seek and identify opportunities and strategies market tourism experiences in the Southwest Nova Biosphere Reserve.
